    If I had the $ I would! just can't swing it right now. but it's exactly what I want to build/buy. got 11 months until I'm 100% debt free so all my extra $ is going there... in fact the only change to my truck from last year is the RTT I was gifted, the bed rack, and preventative maintenance stuff... (brakes, shocks, wires &plugs)

    I'll keep it in mind though. I'm looking to do a T4R build next... 4th gen 09 V8

    what are the dimensions of your tongue receiver? any slop in the max coupler?

    i'm pretty into my trailer build and used 2.5 x3/16 square tubing but am starting to worry there will be a lot of slop from the 2" max coupler part.

    I used 2.5"x3/16th for the main frame and it seems to be solid. I have noticed minimal amounts of play in the max coupler and am planning on sleeving the coupler end with some 3"x1/4 wall square to beef up the front end but it has been solid so far.

    How does the Taco like towing a loaded trailer that size? I'm in the initial planning phases of a similar trailer.. but with how remote we are I'd love to carry something like this in the trailer. I thought about something similar in the bed of the truck, but it'd be nice to drop the extra weight at base camp instead of wheeling with it. A full water tank + a fuel tank has me worried I wont be very happy pulling it on anything other than a freeway though..

    That looks great. The taco tows really well with it loaded down. Keep in mind though that I have the OME Expo springs on it and it has been re-geared to 4.56. The 1st couple of times towing it with the empty water tank and the trailer overloaded (on purpose) it did tend to sway a bit. Did it mainly to evaluate the road manners. But that was before I added shocks and bumpstops to it. After I added the shocks and bumps to it I noticed that it was still a little light on the tongue so that resulted in moving the axle back by about an inch. That seemed to help a lot with the manners and it has been good since.

    That transfer tank would be good to use as a "base station" after you get there. The integrated pump is a nice feature that was set up to work flawlessley.

    This is good news. I have 4.56's also, and a supercharger, so I'm sure power isn't a problem. I am more worried about how it works as an anchor in mud and/or how it effected driving over uneven terrain (light trails). With our fairly light trucks I was worried it might be a bit unenjoyable to tow.

    For what I've had it on, and there are some pictures in one of the build threads, it has done really well and I can feel it but heading over uneven and off camber terrain hasn't been too bad. I can feel that it is there but for what I have done it hasn't been too bad. I absolutely hate mud so I can't speak to that but I have put it through it's paces on multiple trails out here, off camber, rock garden's, and steep inclines with large shelves, without issue. I am hoping to get it up around some narrow off camber trails like Black Bear Pass in Colorado to see how it does. I know it will be slow going but I want to test it out as much as I can. I think with the proper weight distribution between the tongue and rear of the axle you should be fine in the mud. Just remember that you don't need to run regular tire pressures in the trailer tires. You should only need to run 10-20 psi in them even when the trailer is full. It should help a bit with floatation in the mud for you up there.

    Wow what a fun looking fab project! What did you use to cut all your box? I've been using an abrasive saw but am noticing it really sucks for anything over .25" wall/thick.

    Same thing. Just take your time to get it though and the blade won't deflect as much.

    Noted. My problem is the saw seems to bog down when i press hard enough to keep cutting, but if i back up to keep rpms high, it stops cutting. I wonder if it's a voltage drop problem from the wall... Really enjoyed your build thread too. Full of ideas....

    It could be a voltage problem. I was having a similar problem in my last house and had to get an upgraded circuit installed. But ideally just pushing hard enough to keep the sparks going. However Lennox came out with a dry cut chop saw blade specifically for the abrasive saws. You can get it at Lowes. They are pricey and I'm gonna try to pick one up soon to try out so we will see what happens.

    Oh - that looks way better. (Not a fan of the abrasive saw) I have an older compound sliding miter saw that I could probably just dedicate to metal. I hardly ever do any woodworking any more. The lower rpms would probably be a little better for an actual blade...
