I've done a handful of them. Pain in the ass.

    How bad is the screen?

It's full on shattered. Pieces broke off. Phone went rolling down a rocky hill.

Found a dude in CL to do it for 50 and a place at the mall for 70. Just waiting to hear back. Figured I'd check here to see if anyone does it. Would rather fund some new truck toys for someone than some retailer. Hahahha

Batteries go out in them over time. They are cheap too. If you are going to have it apart for any reason you might as well replace it. I've worked on a few if you need any help with it.

I had stopped using mine because it didn't get along with my radio. It would freeze up randomly, and I would have to reset it every couple of days. It worked fine when not attached to the radio. I also hate itunes.

I ended up just getting a 128GB flash drive. It's easier to manage, and easier to navigate when choosing music. Only downside is no playlists.

yeah unfortunately.. I have just spent too much time with itunes. I have actively tried to change to other programs.. tried em all. plus it just works since i have ipods (the ONLY Apple device i have and will own) for the truck and car. I do playlists and like how headunits interface with apple/ipods. search, layouts, etc.

The best alternative I had found was Amarok 3.x on Linux. It could do everything except firmware upgrades.

What I like about using the flash drive is I can navigate artist and albums like I can folders on a computer. If I want to go to the next album, I just hit up on the radio. And if I finish an album, the radio will just go to the next one automatically.

On the ipod, if I wanted to go to the next album, I had to choose the artist, then the album, which sounds simple, unless you have 12,000+ songs on it. And if the album finished, it just started over or stopped playing music. At least this is the behavior on JVC and Pioneer radios.

I noticed that with my truck too. I think it's because apple doesn't update them at all anymore and the old software doesn't play nice with newer stuff. I actually only use my ipod now when I mow the lawn with headphones. I rooted mh note 3 and just use it for music in my truck now via Bluetooth. (Thanks for the help on that Colby)
