Nothing new to see here, I've wanted a truck for the last 6 years and the Wifey finally agreed after performing multiple parking scenarios as our test drive :taco:

The truck will be my daily driver, weekends are spent on fire / forest roads and we're pretty active with snow activities. I'm pretty sure this will go anywhere we've taken our Suby Foz and then some.

    The @smitty99 summary:
    • 7/2016 build date SSM TRD Sport DCLB w/ Premium Tech JBL
    • ATF was checked by @Speed Freek and outcome was normal levels
    • Zerks required some grease but were not bone dry
    • U-Bolts were properly torqued
    • Driveline vibration was only noticeable when I looked for it on day of pickup (also on 3 other Tacos with less than 50 miles I drove the day of pickup just to compare)
      • After the 720 mile mark drive line vibration is now obvious
    • I occasionally think I'm playing Zelda
    • No other known mechanical issues
    • No other known electrical issues except the fuse I blew when installing a pop & lock
    • Plugs ordered for LCA
    • TSB allegedly performed (pending verification)
    Mods so far:
    • Debaged
    • Clazzio Dark Grey / Blue Insert Covers
    • Crux VIMTY-05 + Front Cam mod
    • Xenon Depot 5000K HID (no bounce!) Hyper Yellow Fogs / Highs / Turn
    • FN FX Pro in High Gloss Gun Metal (Dustin @ FN is the man)
    • 265/70/17 Michelin Defender M/S
    • Pop & Lock Actuator
    • G4 Elite Fold-a-cover
    • CargoGlide CG1000 - lost 3" with cover on but satisfies my primary use
    • AMP Powersteps w/ 80" running board
    • @mattgecko LED Bed lights with switches fore / aft of bed
    • 3M Crystalline
    • Additional 12V plug under center console via Add-a-fuse
      • Grandfathered lifetime sub SiriusXM Player
      • Scosche magnetic mount x 2
    • @Uptown2k AC Mod

    Waiting on:
    On the fence:
    • AMP Rear BedStep #shortpeopleproblems
    • De-vinyl B Pillar
    • LED Bulbs
    Far fetched post warranty shenanigans:
OR Suspension / Wheel / Tire setup
    Locker
    Supercharger

    Special Thanks: @cactushead @Speed Freek @JoeyDel @mattgecko @RustysTaco @KevC @rrentrop @JLee @ycart1201

@smitty99 You've been a part of my TW life since I joined, I don't recall a post I've read that you didn't post on. When I finished the operational summary list the first thing that came to mind was you asking / commenting about those issues so I dubbed it the @smitty99 summary!

Cool! Congrats on the truck. Glad you got everything checked out. Enjoy! Look forward to seeing the modifications!

Added a hidden 12V outlet via add-a-fuse to power my old school SiriusXM player
Also reorganized the buttons to make the wiring cleaner without having to drill pass-thru holes

Subbed for front camera mods. Very much needed for offroading.
I bought a wifi camera but have not connected it yet.

    Used the following camera: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00XTZUHOM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
    • First VIMTY had a bad composite connector
      • Bummed out because the bad VIMTY let me listen to the AUX audio source with the camera on. Crux stated that was not intended and couldn't tell me how to make the replacement do it lol....
    • First camera was only B/W after a day's use (be mindful this camera is PAL/NTSC so don't confuse that for a faulty unit)
    • Temporary install location running from from the door panel down the hood and in to the grill (waiting on BAMF)
    • I'll be doing fire roads with some inclines/declines this weekend so will post updates next week
      • the bottom of the plate holder is visible because this is primarily for parking not wheeling
    • Still unsure if I'll use an AOB switch to activate cam or see how long it lasts always powered (Esky CS is pretty good)
    • Self verified as well as from multiple passengers that the feed is real time / lag free

Do you have any pictures of the headlights/fogs? HID kit is next on my list along with fog light replacement. Heard Morimoto is the way to go but still shopping around

@OffRd 5TRMTPR I'll try take some other pics but just know they're bright and produce a really clean cutoff. I know Morimoto is supposed to be brighter but I've used XD for all my past projects as well as for people I know. I was willing to try the Morimoto but the alleged bounce issues turned me away. Attached is a pretty true representation of the 5000K bulbs. They match the LED strip below and have a tinge of blue when looking at the light but still produce what I consider a clean white from behind the light.

@Mike330R Happy to report that the Esky is still going strong even though it's running the whole time the truck is on. The Crux VIMTY-05 is worth it, not just for the input but it's VIM properties. I find myself always activating it when I start the car.

Phone reported this as a 42 degree incline, I just know it was steep enough to make me think twice about getting out of the truck and walking in front of it to take pics!

Compare the dash view to the camera view (power lines make a good reference point.) Keep in mind placement of my camera was primarily for wife parking duties (hence the bottom of the plate frame being visible) I'm pretty confident that with the VIMTY and this or a dome camera placed on the undercarriage would be a good OR camera solution.2016-08-21 08.53.14.jpg 2016-08-21 08.53.02.jpg 2016-08-21 08.52.22.jpg

I've been looking for someone with the CRUX adapter and JBL. The instructions are unclear and tech support didn't really know.

Did you have to modify the CRUX wiring harness to work in your installation?

@Mike330R Yes, make sure it's one that's programmed for the 2016 Tacoma / Entune JBL

@HalfWayThere Nope, the only mod needed is if you want to wire a hard switch for activation

Default Config = PNP then press and hold the up button on the left side steering control for 3 seconds to activate. Even cooler, if you press for longer than 3 but less than 6 it actually switches to the CRUX A/V source..not sure it's intentional but for a bumper cam it works great and eliminated the need for me to wire a cam switch.

I know what I'm doing this weekend. I already have the little camera that mounts in the Toyota emblem.
