Yes very true but I figure for 13,800 it's worth the risk vs paying 17-18000 for one that has 130,000 and isn't as clean. Definitely going to get it cleaned and coated by someone local. Just not sure how much that runs.

Yeah, there's no holes so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. But very true I don't plan on keeping it forever ha ha!

My last truck was 24 years old (16 or so of them were mine) when I sold it to a friend who was going to keep using it for his landscaping business. So for me, yeah, I kind of do approach the purchase of a truck expecting to keep it a really long time. I got my Tacoma when it was 7 years old and I hope it's around for that long, too. :)

Just finished repainting my frame on my 04 and my word of advice would be: becareful!

Inspect the sh*t out of the inside of the frame where the front of the Rear spring bolts to the truck. That is THE sweet spot for rust due to horrible drainage

Might spend the 80$ for on of those harbor freight borescope camera tools. Really no other way to see inside the rail...

I say just drive it and whenever it gets a little closer to the expiration of the warranty you go under the car and do the ballpeen hammer inspections, and you know if you managed to 'find' a hole bigger than 10mm you can take it to a dealer

Ha ha I like the way you think! So I am flying out Friday to pick up the truck and drive back to New Mexico. Should be a fun 20 plus hour trip!

Finally heard back from the case manager from Toyota and yes the truck is covered for the frame replacement until Aug 30th 2019. So I'm comfortable with it and let's hope the frame doesn't ever need to be replaced or it needs to be replaced ha ha. Thanks for everyone's help! I will post up pictures when I pick her up!

Picked up the truck yesterday! She's really beautiful and super happy. The frame is covered in rust but is strong with no holes. Definitely needs some shocks and leaf springs! Let the build commence!!

Good luck with the build, I am in the same boat although I don't think mine was coated so may not be covered in the warranty unfortunately. My rust isn't quite as bad as this though so I think I'll clean it up and spray it myself. What does the inside of your frame look like?
