Done - except that I may rebuild the fairing out of thicker material. I was originally going to do side plates, but after bolting the tent on the rear rack I decided to leave them off for better access.

Looks awesome!!!! What size bolts did you go with? And did you use a spacer under your mounts?

The cab is already threaded for M6x1.0, and I stayed with those when I bolted the rack to the bracket. I used 1" spacers. Here's a couple of pics of the brackets before I welded the strap on top of them.

Thats exactly what i plan to do. So was the M6 1inch or 1.25in? If your spacer was 1inch I assume your bolt was a little longer, correct?

Spacers are 1". IIRC, the bolts I used were 45 mm. The holes are fairly deep, so you have some leeway.

I drove Mrs PHTaco's Land Cruiser for a few days this week. I got back in the Taco yesterday and forgot the tent was up there. I pulled into the parking garage at work and decapitated the rear of my truck. Shell is totalled, tent is damaged, and my bedsides are tweaked outwards. Dammit. The only good news I have to report is that my rack held up great. All this one week before I head out to Ouray.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear the news...that sucks that it happen so close to your trip. Is that a replacement under the white one already? Hopefully you find a solution before you depart on your adventure!

Not sure what you mean by a replacement under the white one?

I ordered a new shell today, and I think I can rig the tent to where it is usable. I'm waiting for the insurance guy to come take a look before I do anything to make it look better.

My bad, the way the rear window was open in the back it looked like another cap was under it. I just looked back at it and realized it was the tent.

I got started on a rack/basket for my Relentless bed bars today. I will use unistruts to strengthen the outside rails and as crossbars. My spare tire will go on the rack and will have space for two 8 gallon Action Packers.

Thanks @ERMB and everyone else for the ideas in this thread.

How did the aluminum angle work for you? was it 2 inch angle?

The aluminum worked out well, when its all bolted together its solid. I was hanging off it from the side and giving it a few pulls and it seems to be pretty solid to me. I did use bolts instead of riveting though.

Thanks Sam, now based on what I notice on the highway I may need to start thinking about a fairing for the front :D.
