I love traditional tattoos, especially traditional style eagles.

I agree with this. Go with an artist whose style you dig. And when it comes to the actual art, TRUST YOUR ARTIST. Before I began my journey toward becoming a tattoo artist (and actually had to pay for my tattoos), I would research every shop in town, as many portfolios as I could find. I also looked for bloodborne pathogen certifications, health department certifications for the shop. Ask if the shop has an autoclave, and watch them pour their pigments, and make sure they pull the needle from a pack. If they just have a needle laying about, insist that they pull a fresh one out. I could go on and on, so any curious tattoo novice can PM me or whatever if they have any questions.

Are there any other tattoo artists/apprentices on this forum?

Does almost count? or are we sticking with almost only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.

Scheduled to have my right upper arm done on September 10th - perfect for my 9/11 commemoration for the 15th Anniversary. I'm stoked!

I got this on my left chest Saturday, still very tender. Also, it's my first tattoo.

i'm a frederick native, i can vouch for Black Label and Classic Electric as well. Been tattooed twice by Terry at Classic. Been tattooed by Josh and Scott (owner) at Black Label. I'm partial to Black Label simply for atmosphere, professional consultations as well reasonable prices. both are very high quality. classic electric seemed to have a bit of an attitude and air of entitlement (just my experience) but never had an unpleasant time with the guys at BL

Its's a small start, but a start none the less, adding floral stuff and back ground stuff as we progress to finishing it. But between a new break line and master cylinder this was all we had time for.

Had this done today - crappy picture so I'll post another later when it is less inflamed that will show the colors better. I was in the Pentagon on 9/11 in the section hit by the plane - stared Death down several times. This is a nod to all those who perished, were injured and their families. The eagle stands on a pentagon-shaped piece of rubble looking intently as the sun begins to come out of the clouds.

Suttle nods to things in tattoos have become my ... Nitch?... Thing...

There's a nod to the Maltese cross and the 343 on my left arm that most people miss unless I point it out.

I truely appreciate your new ink

Thank you for your service and I like tattoos that have special meaning behind them like yours does. That is really a piece of art work!

I prefer subtle. Instead of a cross with "Dad" on it and his birthday/deathdat/whatever, I got a Koi on my right arm. Did my best to make it the same color/pattern that his favorite Koi was. Worst part about my tats is that you really need to look to see the subtleties, but they are really for me anyway.

Here's a much better shot in the daylight. Now it's time to go through the healing process...which seems already to be worse than my first tattoo.
