Hey fellas, I've got a question. Does anyone do anything to protect their tires? I've gotten really shitty life out of two sets of tires (BFG KO's that came on it and GY Wranglers) and didn't know if there was something I should be doing since it's so hot here all the time. The set I have on now has quite a bit of wear left on the treads but the sidewalls look like they're breaking down and that's where my most recent flat happened. I've only put ~20k on them so far so I wouldn't expect this kind of breakdown but it's been pretty frustrating. Thoughts?

Not sure what part of Ok but the sidewall problem could be from our gawd awful roads. Other than that idk. I usually get pretty good treadlife from mine. I get them rotated every 5k miles.

Yeah, I mean it's not tread wear that's been the problem. This looks like the rubber is separating from lower layers on the sidewall. I get them rotated every 5k as well and it's not like I'm seeing uneven wear. Just poor overall durability. What are you running currently/what have you run in the past?

I ran BFG Long Trail on my 2004 Tacoma and they performed brilliantly. I was on my second set when I sold it with > 90k miles with probably 10 - 20 thousand miles left. My 16 has the factory GY Wranglers and I only have about 7k miles on them.

I would imagine with only 20k mile GY might replace them with a generous prorate if they were failing.

Question for you OKC members: Any recommendations on good mechanics around the OKC/Moore area that can help install some mods for my 2016 Tacoma? I'm too nervous to cut up/work on my new truck, I'd rather have a professional do it. But I won't pay dealership prices. Mostly simple stuff like installing a CB, lights, etc.

    Thanks!

I'm sure there are others that will chime in. But when I was active in a shelby/mustang club. We use to have tech days. Basically everyone would meet at someone's house and we would all tackle projects together. Some people knew motors, some suspension, some forced induction etc. There is a lot of knowledge on the boards between members. Get them together add some beer and great things happen. Might be something to think about in the future

You should ask on OnTorc FB, someone on there might have already looked at it.

I would be interested in this too, but I don't offer much knowledge...I could offer up my garage, it's clean and I have some tools. I'm in south OKC/Moore area. The middle of Sept would work best for me.
