How difficult is it to swap the grill insert out with the TRD Pro? I picked up a grill & will be using it with my chrome bezel shell.

I have not taken it out of the box yet so I do not know if it comes with hardware & what the difficulty level is.

Hardest part is undoing the clips along the bottom of the grill that fasten to the top of your bumper to remove it, if u have long skinny arms its no problem, more of a pain in the ass. The grill insert itself is easy, couple bolts and a few clips and the 2 pieces separate.

Actually, if you go to HomerTaco's grill insert page in his vendor thread you'll see how easy it is ;)

Very simple to exchange, you'll need a Torx bit T20 maybe and don't forget to swap the rubber weather strip. Good luck.

So will the chrome shell have to be removed to change out the insert or will that be able to stay in place?

Remove it, there's not a lot of room in there for tools, and its really quite easy to put back on.

And Siblue is correct, remove/reuse the weather strip, I assumed it had one on it. Apologies :)

You should have purchased a color matched grill surround to make it perfect.

I am planning to so that at some point.
I have an SSM base which natively has the grey surround. (Not chrome, not color matched, but gray) When I swap in the T O Y O T A grill I will color match the surround.

I asked my dealer if they would price match, said they wouldn't normally do so but since I bought from them they would. Got mine for $350+tax

They realise that it is in their best interest to make the sale at a discount from them then someone else. They also get the labor for the install.

TRD Pro wheels will be coming soon! 1 hr labor for R & R of my tires/sensors from my stock rims & mount/balance to the new rims.

Do you need to use glue to reuse the weather strip?

No glue needed. It uses push clips to attach.

Oh perfect. Thanks! My MGM bevel should be arriving today and the PRO grill has been waiting in the closet for a few weeks. Excited to get home and install it!

Wasnt difficult, just a pita. The small clips on the weather stripping are the worse. I bent 2 then decided just to toss them. Flat head screwdriver, a T bit, and needle nose pliers (helped putting on the weather stripping.)

Took me about 45min to mine.

Save the headache and but the color matched piece first. Its worth it. Trust us.

Is there any good way to get the bezel off? I feel like I'm going to break it forcing those tabs...

edit: finally got it! Did you guys take off the foam piece that lays against the weather seal? I feel like its causing the surround to not seat perfectly..
