Leaf springs were replaced for me. One was a bushing and the other entire side needed replaced. Also, the whole "new generation issues" doesn't hold up. There are many posts on here citing facts that contradict that common statement. Bottom line is, Toyota's QA/QC has went into the shitter.

nope. Mine makes zero noise. I am at about 5500miles. So far i have had little to no complaints about it except for the low trans fluid and after the TSB resolved any shifting issue I had. I dont have squeaks, rumbles, rattles, or whatever else everyone seems to be crying on about here. Either I am much more forgiving or my truck was just built alot better

I took a drive Saturday up to Mono Hot Springs. A simple drive down a bumpy one lane road. By the time I got out there, I was seriously embarrassed how much racket my truck was making. Front end squealing like a little girl every time I hit a bump. Rear wheel well liners rattling like a broken screen door. I told my service adviser about the liners rattling, he said that all of the new Tacomas do that. He walked the lot and they all rattled when he tapped them. Nothing he could do without a TSB other than suggest, jokingly I certainly hope, stuffing newspaper between them.

I was one of those "My truck is perfect" guys until I needed new leaf springs, a TSB that the dealer claims doesn't exist yet, and a fix for the grinding metal on metal noise that ended up being the skid plate. There is a difference between conversing about an issue and "crying" about it.

ehhh there are actual issues and then there is the people who cry about everything on here. I swear why do 90% of the people on here even have a toyota truck if all they seem to ever do is dog it and complain about it. if you want to drive a POS try a Subaru. the 2012 WRX I owned and the 2012 Imprezza i bought my wife 2 biggest piles of shit ever created. I got rid of the WRX pretty quick

The inconsistency from dealership to dealership and how they approach or treat problems really drives me nuts. I went to the dealer 3 times to get this fixed and the answer was to fly the regional engineer out to take my leafs apart and reassembled them with some special lubricating pads or whatever. You can't be serious that replacing leafs costs more than flying out an engineer paying per diem, lodging etc and paying a tech Staff of two or three knuckleheads 4 hours labor to muck around with my leafs.

Yah I feel like I got lucky... Luckily Houston is huge and I can take it to 4 different dealerships in a 20 mile radius if one wanted to dick around

My SR5 started "squeaking" from the passenger's side front at around 5K. At 7060 miles the dealership did the following repair:

    Quote from invoice/work order:
    C/S VEHICLE SQUEAK IN FRONT
BODY BUSHING ON RF OF VEHICLE FOR CORE SUPPORT RUBBED
THROUGH RUBBER CUSHION AND WAS METAL ON METAL
    REPLACE CORE SUPPORT BODY MOUNT

    Part Number Description

    TOY 52201-04040 Cushion Sub-Assy, CA
    TOY 52201-04030 Cushion Sub-Assy, CA
    TOY 90201-10012 Washer, Plate
    TOY 90177-A0010 Nut, Lock
    TOY 90440-16007 Tube
    Parts count: 6.00

Summary of Charges for Invoice XXXXXX

    Parts $ 49.84
    Labor 227.50
    Total $277.34

    FAC WARRANTY $277.34

Squeak was totally gone upon leaving the dealership....now have 8500+ miles on the truck and NO MORE ANNOYING SQUEAK. The tech (a sharp as s*** guy) knew immediately what the problem was when I described the issue I was having. He ordered the parts and when they came in the repair was done while I waited. I have never got the "that's normal" from the service writer or tech on the few minor issues I have had such as rear window seal not fitting right (replaced), low trans fluid (added), LCA plugs (added), and transmission TSB (done). And I never had to wait longer than an hour with the exception of the transmission fluid check which they kept the truck overnight. I got the "that's normal" BS from the first dealer I went to and never went back. The truck didn't come from either dealer but another one over 500 miles away.

My squawks and squeaks like a parrot ever since I took out to the local trails. Even after a pretty thorough wash, the squeaking got worse. Just sprayed some moto chain cleaner and some penetrating lube to see if that'll help.

I notice a loud squeaking few days ago (2,230 miles). I call Toyota and they open a case. Today receive the call from the dealer to make the appointment. I will bring it in this Saturday.

I also have the stick shift handle lose at the point that I can rotate it by looking at it (brain power).:D

I will post back when the dealers give me an answer.

My squeak got a tad better after the lube, but a few days later after it dried out/flung off, the squeak was back in full force. I suffered through it some more until I took a power washer to the leafs for a good bit. Now it's much better.

I solved my squeaking issues (besides when on trails but then it's just a very quiet dull creaking) for me 10% was re-torquing the u-bolts to 73 ft lbs at 65k miles they needed a LOT of tightening up this also almost completely cured axle wrap/chugging when accelerating out of 1st gear that had developed at about 20k miles; I thought my stock leafs had just settled but I think the U-bolts loosened up and were letting the rear end twist a bit under acceleration. Then I used a silicone spray on the leafs and that did about 10%. the big smoking gun for me was the spare tire was either loose or it became slightly loose over time. 1/2-3/4 turn snugged it up and the squeaking went away completely for me!

My truck squeaks so much, i think a lot of dynamat and new speakers might be my last hope. Its somewhere between a cheap hookers bed and a hay wagon thats been ridden hard and put away wet. :anonymous:
