Dude you need 37's or 38's! Too high in the rear for 14" wide Bro wheels! I love the stock pictures, especially with the same wheels. I'm gonna have to load some old pictures.

Hey guys. Maybe Ill just post here see if I can get some thoughts. I've gone through and tried to read a bunch in this thread, bbut I skipped around because 650+ pages.

So I had planned to do the RCD 4.5" lift (which comes with extended 5100's), but now reading around I am tempted to just jump up and go to the BDS 6" Coilover kit.

It looks like it has a higher clearance crossmember than the RCD/ProCOmp etc?

How do the coilovers handle a front bumper/winch compared to the stock springs which would be utilized in the RCD kit? I saw blacktacoma23 mention upgrading to 700# springs instead of 600#, but I don't see where you can do that.

Anyone have experience comparing the two?

    Edit:

Oh yeah, my main question, BDS *says* on their website that you need 18" wheels. I've already ordered 17", will those fit? It seems people online say they fit 17's on the BDS kit. Otherwise I will have to change my wheel order.

Edit 2: The wheels I ordered were Ballistic Jester 17x9 -12 (4.5" BS)

Either buy just the basic kit and call fox and order the BDS coilovers with your springs of choice or.. buy the springs and swap them like me

I tried my jester's back in 2012 and it was too close for my comfort but they rotated. Even knocked the wheel weights off lol.

Not sure if you mean me or something blacktcacoma said?

He has stated his Jesters just barely cleared, I'm wondering did you (blacktacoma) have the 0 or -12 offset? If you had the 0 and they barely cleared, I should be good to go with my -12, correct?

I really don't want to step up to 18's. :(

    They were 17x9 -12 (4.5" Backspace)

    I'm on 3.5 backspace now

I'd try it maybe before mounting the tires. Worse case add wheel spacers to the front to clear.

Or play it safe with 18's

I think I'm just gonna cave and go to 18x9, -12, and move up to 295/70/18.

I don't know if I want to fuck with spacers.

    Thanks for the info.

Nah fuck it, they seem to be good quality, I'm gonna go with Spidertrax so I can stay with 17x9 -12, 285/70/17.

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
There are also so many more choices in a 17" tire vs an 18". Honestly If I had to move from my 17" I think I would jump to a 20" just for the ability to have more options and then run 37's so I could still air down and have a decent foot print

Then comes gears, custom drive shaft, 2nd transfer case, ect....

The confusing thing is how all the lifts on their respective sites say min 18" but I swear every pic I see the trucks are running 17"s.

I keep flip flopping to just getting the 18's and knowing Im safe or going batshit with negative offset and spacers.

    Im bad at decisions.

I'm run the FabTech 6in DB lift and one of the reasons I went with them was the ability to stay with 17" wheels. Otherwise I think I would have purchased the BDS lift. I have had no problems with mine at all, so no regrets.

Everything looks good but the link for the coilovers. Looks like just the 3" ones. When you order mention the 6" fabtech and they will choose the correct pair.

    Happy modding! :proposetoast:
