Damn dude! Glad you're okay. I know the feeling all too well. As for a DD, I've been looking at the VW TDI sportwagen. Plenty of space and good mpg.

Well we looked at a couple different cars, and bought something today. We planned on buying a new car next year for her while I would keep driving the honda for work and have my truck for when the weather is bad or planned on wheeling. So this ordeal kind of got in the way of that plan so we had to find a car we could both agree upon so when I need the truck she's not disappointed that she has to drive the other car.

    We decided on a G37xS

Eh, could've done better on the car, much better options out there than the infinity haha:puke:
(realize you are in a crunch

Im sure we could have entertained a coupe of different cars but for what we wanted the choices were limited. I looked for some other contenders but for the price its hard to beat for what you get. Awd, leather, bluetooth (not just phone calls) heated seats, reliable, easy maintenance, plus a bunch of other creature comforts.

Im curious what your options would have been, cause I could only come up with a few cars the fit the bill under 20k.

How many miles on it? I got my Volvo S60 for $11,500. 2009 with 89k miles, awd, leather. I'm sure that car will do well for you, certainly better/more comfortable than the civic lol

    I think that's a fine choice :notsure:

I enjoyed my 350z and that's relatively close. Yours has the newer engine and awd

I think the 37X is a kickass choice, i loved my 6sp g35. I actually always thought an awd version would be an awesome daily driver if i ever found myself living somewhere with bad weather often.

Haha just giving you hell man.

My truck gets paid off next month and I'm looking for a DD as well, was just wondering your thought process on that car. I have a 2011 VW TDI Golf I was going to be driving but it's under the buy back due to illegal emissions so I've been shopping around. I want a manual so that limits me to an extent, and I need something in the 30-32mpg range. The golf was perfect, but what they want to buy it back for I can't pass up. Would love some suggestions, I'm gonna be in the $13K range.

Haha I didn't take any offense but I'm not sure if it was the accident but I was having a hard time coming up with cars to consider given what we (mostly her) wanted. So I wasn't sure if I was forgetting some obvious choice car lol. Like I completely forgot about volvo like @northwesttaco has.

I would love a diesel car (MPGs yo) but an awd one would be out of my price range for sure. If your only want is a manual and 30mpg you have some decent options. I thought about a newer accord (13+) but my only grief was the stuff she really wanted put me in whole different price range like heated leather seats, its fwd but the better mpg would have been an okay trade off if it weren't for the price of one

Why not another golf only a gasser this time?

I've considered that. I have been looking closely at the 2012 year Audi A3 TDI, hard to find in manual. A lot of people are buying up the VW TDI's due to the emission scandal and are trying to profit from it. You get until 2018 to decide if you want to keep the car or sell it back, so there is money to be saved by doing that.

Also, meant to ask you a while back, are you coming to the Overland Expo in October? really want to get a look at that truck...

So far I'm pretty happy with it, I wish I could have got a manual one. My previous S4 was a manual and she wanted nothing to do with 3 pedals, so I had to get an auto because we will swap cars from time to time.

The Awd was a huge want because of how far I drive all times of the year, and thats what really narrowed my choices. Sure I could drive the truck but its nice to know if I go somewhere far and the weather is really bad on the way back I wont have any issue, or she will be fine while I have the truck. Not that fwd is terrible in the snow but if you get stuck all 4 moving is better than 2

A A3 tdi would be nice, but it seems like people only get tdi/manual cars in a golf/jetta lol.

I really want to go but it depends on work, I had to burn some days because of this accident (still need to get paid) so Ill only have 2 days left for the year. Im hoping some one bumps me right before so ill have a solid 10 days to make the trip, so really its gonna be dumb luck if I get to go. I have high hopes tho

So I threw on the awning I bought several months back, wanted to see how it fit.

Also I've had this pinging in the front when in 4wd while turning (offroad, little traction) But my first thoughts were the skid plates from body flex, just buckling against where they meet. Well with no skid plates over last weekend crawling up some hills I noticed that pinging while turning and moving either direction, so I re evaluated the skid plate idea. So now my thinking is my CVs are likely out of grease from the torn boots, but I would assume they would still make the noise in either 2wd/4wd since the CVs still move so I'm not 100% on the CVs just yet.

Much easier when something just breaks, that way I can figure out whats wrong :D
