Interesting read... Cars.com guys have always liked GM products... they write about them alot.
I would have thought that the Taco would have placed higher... but really the stuff they hated about the truck is what we bitch about on this forum everyday!

"Ride and handling: "Regular street tires are key to the GMC's comfort and street ability, with more planted handling and less noise than the Chevrolet's knobbier off-road tires," Bruzek said."
If only we lived in a world where a driver could change tires to meet a desired characteristic. Maybe someday. Until then if you want the ride of a street tire you'll need to buy a Canyon.

Good read. After reading what everyone on this forum says about their Taco, it doesn't surprise me it finished so badly.

Interesting read, of course things could really change after say 5-8 years of living with one of them. Will you regret buying a caruck like the Ridgeline? If I was getting it for my wife I think she would be perfectly happy with it as she can have a place for her yoga mat, eco shopping bags AND still go to the garden store and haul her pine straw bails or bags of lady bug dirt. It's not even an option for me I need some more serious off road capabilities and to be able to tow 4-5k pound trailers on occasion. I looked at the GMC Canyon hard but I just didn't have the same gut feeling that it was NOT going to disappoint me in some way like I felt with the Tacoma after a lot of research and first hand investigation. I'm perfectly happy with my choice and really believe many others are but have doubts because they see people posting otherwise, not much I can do about that.

Who cares what they say? Tons of automotive journals have bashed the Tacoma for thew new engine.

Has any Automotive periodical or Journal praised the new motor and performance?

I certainly had my criticisms but I did test a 2016 made in late July that for whatever reason felt much better.

Nothing suprising from the ratings Gen 2.5 barely beats the 11 year old Frontier. When the 2016 came out, and after I test drove it for 4 hours, I posted on these forums about how I felt Toyota did a half assed rush job on this truck - pushing it out in short order to compete with the newly released and completely redesigned GM twins.

I was raked over the coals by some fanboys for pointing this out. Glad to see I was at least partially right. If Toyota did not have its reliability going for it then....oh well.....

Not trashing any 2016 buyers out there - if I needed new truck I would NOT buy a GM and it would likely come down to a Frontier (for cheap) or Gen 2.5 for me. I am trashing Toyota though over their half assed job "redesigning" this truck and resting on their laurels.

    Oh and

Dude just admit that you don't have two nickels to rub together and quit posting about a vehicle you don't even own!

So I have some criticisms of this truck (which I have driven more than a handful of times)so you automatically assume I am the poor house. lol. You must really not like some things about your truck if you are that defensive! Not going to stop posting on here because it offends you. Ignore me if you wish.
I could have a gen 3 in my driveway tomorrow if I wanted but every other thread on this forum is a thread complaining about an array of widespread issues. I've already proven myself right in holding off a while after the TSB was released and automatic transmission fluid issues.

Translation: I'm broke and the only way I can drive a new truck is on a test drive! Seriously how many times have you test driven this truck? My guess is your local dealership does rock, paper, scissors for who has to show you a new Tacoma for the tenth time!

Whatever you say, buddy. If it makes you feel better judging people because they have a critique of the Tacoma, by all means, let it out! It doesn't negate the fact that many people feel exactly the same way I do, even well-known automotive journals that usually paint of rosey picture of every truck they review.

Funny thing about my truck is that before placing the order for it I test drove one, liked it and thus ordered mine. Now with a approx. 4000 miles and still liking the truck, curious if other owners that are unhappy with engine and transmission performance actually took a test drive?
