Good point. Does kicking them out help with resistance to roll also? I should read up on links more. Just haven't looked into the geometry that much.

 

anyone here remove the oil baffle/deflectors in the rear axles ??

 

It looks like if you get a set of links from them you can just use a uniball cup instead of their bushing set up. Maybe.

 

With enough kick yes it will help resist lean roll a little

What are you trying to achieve? If this is to deflect from your vent, just move your vent away from the 3rd member

 

Makes sense. I'm looking at a Currie F9, i believe 86" WMS to WMS. I'm trying to gather all the parts prior to dropping off the truck and heading overseas again. Any suggestion on angle, looks like Ruffstuff offers 1, 5, and 10*.

 

Only reason is because my damn axle shafts will not stop rubbing them ever since I put the arb in. It's been to the shop once and I've pulled the diff 3 times. On the 3rd time I bought brand new deflectors and tac welded them in. The sound isn't that Loud but it's annoying and I'm afraid of metal getting in the oil

 

86" WMS? Off the top of my head the stock axle is 65" WMS? You're going 21" wider lol?

Oh lol. I was like...uhhhh, are you gonna be running like a 10" over front kit or something lol.

Why not go for about 70" or so to match a 3.5" front kit? That's alot of money to gain an inch wider axle lol.

 

Can you just trim the deflectors a little?

 

You need to go wider then stock to fit the shocks and there and keep them from hitting on when it articulates. Expecially if you plan on running sway bars and bump stops..
If you arnt going very wide, I would guess 5 deg on the angle, but like I said there are a lot of variables with that

 

on a second gen with stock rear axle I guarntee you will jto

with a 1" wider axle I would bet that you are still going to need wheel spacers. I have flat links mounted outside the frame rails in the front, they run pretty straight back and we still needed to use 1 1/4" wheel spacers for a 35" tire on a 4.5 BS rim to clear the link. Those Ruff stuff links are canoes so they are wider...

As @jeffz0rz said if your not sure about angle get uniballs instead of bushings.

That's what I was beginning to wonder too, depends where it is rubbing. Could it be a defective locker that's pulling or pushing the axles forwards or back as well just enough to where it rubs?

 

Starting to consider that but it never made a sound before the locker. And it's not like I've been offroading recently lol...
I had a reputable shop install the locker. And after I heard the sound the 1st time I brought him the entire truck and he removed the 3rd and the locker to make sure there was nothing wrong with it. Spoke to yotamasters and they recommended tac welding them in. So I bought brand new ones and tacd then in. Same sound lol.
