I must say. Aside from the lack of power, which was always the case for the taco, it does great in all aspects. I have had mine for just over 3 months and put 16k miles on it so far. Long offroad trips, highway driving, gridlock traffic... I use it the the fullest and it's been delivering without any issues. Sure the tranny is a bit nicer after doing the TSB but it wasn't horrendous before. I have a number of vehicles - Miata, XJ Cherokee, IS350 - and love this truck the most of them all. I traded in a very luxury 2011 Grand Cherokee with air suspension, quadradrive2 and a hemi, and I am glad I did. Just saying.

Honestly the last Toyota truck I owned was 1980's truck powered by a 22RE, so this truck is head and shoulders above that one..

Been very pleased with mine so far, the TSB'S made me like it all the better.

    Also a Miata driver.

Have to confess I've been neglecting it lately due to the comfort and capability of the OR.

I never thought I'd like any vehicle as much as my '02 Tacoma SR5 access cab 2.7L 4X4 but, now that my complaints about the transmission were resolved with the TSB I think my '16 is my favorite non-motorcycle vehicle I've ever owned. Still which it was the same size as the Gen1 Tacoma though.

Holy shit! A TW 3rd gen thread that is NOT about how bad you hate your truck! RIGHT ON!! Three or four things about mine bug me a little but is is definitely one awesome truck that needs more compliments than complaints! I've owned a '92 P/U, 2000 Taco, 2006 Tundra and currently my third gen TRD OR and they have all been awesome trucks. I have owned many Chevy's and Fords as well and cannot speak so highly of them. Great thread OP!

I traded my '15 WRX in for mine and don't regret it one bit. Feels like over the top luxury in comparison.

    YEAH BUDDY!
I'll have to agree with you on this one. I try so freakin hard to hate the transmission but it does what I ask it to and once the TSB was performed all of my minor complaints were addressed. I've driven Tacoma's and 4Runners for the past 12 years and ill have to say that The 3ed gen is my favorite with the 4runner closely following.
    Here's a pic for fun!

    @ the OP,

I've got the same truck on order. Can I ask how you like your bed rack set up with the RTT? I'm leaning towards a cap and putting an RTT on top possibly.

I love my 16! Once I had the TSB done, my truck runs great with no issues or vibrations. Very happy with the technology package and other cool gadgets.20160821_144759.jpg
