When I got hit by the woman in the Highlander, the bumper held up extremely well and the damage was not all that noticeable.

Driving in Doylestown Borough, which is a lot of stop and go. The original front brakes wore out at like 31,000 miles, and second pair started to wear out around 58,000.

Sorry about your bad luck OP, living in Los Angeles this is something I have in the front of my mind at all times while driving. Best advice I can give is to be as defensive a driver as you can. I always anticipate that someone is going to blow a stop sign, run a red light, drift in my lane, cut me off, etc. It's the best defense we have against idiots that don't pay attention or abide by the rules of the road, and so far *knock on wood* in 15 years of driving in LA I've only been involved in a few fender benders that weren't my fault.

A heavy duty or offroad bumper could very well help in low speed impact collisions, but like everyone else is saying...anything over 20mph is likely to cause damage to your truck no matter what kind of 'armor' you have. Vehicles are designed to absorb impact and take on damage so that the driver doesn't.

I don't know about the cruise upgrade as my Tacoma had it factory installed. The wiper upgrade I did myself by following a thread on this forum that shows how with pictures. Might be in the stickies. Do a forum search. It's very easy to install. Took me about 20 minutes. You will need to buy the new stalk with intermittent feature. PN is in the thread. Cost is about $125. You will need to remove a couple of covers on the steering column behind the steering wheel. This gives access to the base of the wiper stalk. From there you just unplug the old stalk and then plug in the new one. Reassemble and you are done. Crack a beer.

No. 90% of all braking is front , so why worry about dropping money on the rears!

Satoshi, debadged, rear view mirror bracket, tail gate hose clamps, trimmed mud flaps.
No, leave the rear brakes as drums. The engineers at Toyota put drums in the back for a reason. With such a light rear end, adding discs would cause the rear to lock up, not to mention the Tacoma has one of the best braking distances in class as is.

I prefer 4 wheel disc brakes, but it's not worth the expense to change over. The drum brakes work just fine.

Based on your wearing out fronts 3x faster than rears, why would you bother to put disc on the rear?

In fact, maybe put drums on the front?

    (just kidding)

I am surprised at your front wear rate though.

I'm historically hard on brakes, raced my bikes in Colorado for a couple of years, a late braker I am. Got 60k miles out of the first set on the Sport. At 38 k miles on the OR, still good meat left on pads, rotors look good. Something is going wrong in your front braking system. Corrosion from salt effecting brake parts life? I'm in and out of mud a lot, sand trails often, and still no wear like yours....
Have had good luck with the EBC components in the past with other trucks, Tundras and Tacoma's. Would like to know why you're blasting through brakes like that.

I can attest to this. I was rear-ended in February. Guy was driving a jeep Cherokee doing less than 20 mph. My truck spent six hours onow the frame rack pulling the frame straight again. Drivers side was off about a half inches. Passenger side was off by more than an inch and a half. My factory hitch took the brunt of the impact. There was very little damage done to the factory bumper. Total for repairs was 4k.
