The bad thing about that place is during the winter months they close the roads because of rain and stuff.

It was just this morning I heard about the place for the first time. In all probability, it would be next spring or summer before we could get a group rounded up to head that way. Most of the fall dates are already planned this year. I don't usually venture that far from home in the winter. Most of those I had in mind to go there are parents with kids in school who wouldn't be able to go now anyway. Look for more news on a trip there around mid spring or early summer next year. It does look like the kind of place we're hunting for though.

My son-in-law just bought a very nice 4Runner and is starting to equip it. He'll be coming along with my daughter and 3 grand kids. No way for them to come as long as school is in, so that plays heavily into the plans. We'd be wanting to make it a 3 or 4 day trip at minimum.

I wanna say that the guy had it on the top or one of the higher settings, haven't heard back from the middle man if he's going that route. Oh well not my truck, nor my friends truck, nor somebody on here :notsure:

When I bought my truck (used) it had a Toytech Boss kit, used, but in the box, sitting in the back seat. Previous owner told me he just didn't like a lifted truck because of the ride. I couldn't help but notice the labels on the shocks were strangely discolored. But, they appeared OK, so I put them on anyway. Within a few days, they started puking oil out the seals. I had a spacer lift kit sitting on my bench that was bought to put on someone else's truck but they backed out. So. I pulled the Toytech kit and put stock shocks/coils back on with the spacers as a temporary solution. A few weeks later, I ran into a guy at Cabella's that was a friend of the previous owner of my truck. This guy told me what happened to the Toytech shocks. The owner didn't like how stiff they rode. He heard from someone that if you heated them up enough, the oil would break down some and the shocks would be more compliant. (Apparently he bought this idea, hook, line, and sinker) He pulled the shocks off and put them in a pizza oven where he worked, got them very hot, let 'em cool off, then re-installed. This didn't fix his "problem", so he put the truck back to original. He was then convinced there was something wrong with the way Toyota designed the suspension, so he traded the truck in on a new FJ. I ended up with the truck. Fortunately, he didn't do anything else to the truck. It has otherwise performed flawlessly. When I put the Boss coilovers on, they very shortly blew the seals out. After closer examination, I noticed some distortion of the metal outer shell. So they're sitting under the work bench now. I'm eventually going to send them back to Toytech to see if they can be salvaged. At one point, I was ready to throw Toytech under the bus. Glad I didn't. This wasn't their fault.

I've since put a complete new lift on the truck. But not before convincing myself that spacers aren't nearly as evil as some people would have you believe. They do OK for just a cheap lift on a street truck...Even OK for very light off roading. Just don't go hitting any giant "sweet jumps"....!

I'm hoping that heating the coils didn't ruin them. I don't think he got 'em "that hot"....But that's the thing about idiots....You never know just how extreme their idiocy runs....

I like Bora....My theory is to use the smallest spacers you need. Bora makes 'em in 3/4" and 1". I have the 1". If I knew then what I know now, I'd have probably bought the 3/4". They're hub centric (like Spidertrax) and priced competitively.

Ok so I have been trying to figure out my issue of this vibration after I have changes out stuff. I changed the lead pack to the all pro expos and flip, changed the coils it 886 with trim spacer, set my shocks at 0, put on the Camburg uppers, changed driver axle and diff bearing. Got it aligned to factory specs since the guy couldn't give me max caster, going to find someone who can at a later date. I am getting a bad vibe from a it 20 to 65 was thinking of getting the tires re balanced and thinking of a carrier bearing drop but I don't know how much. Was thinking beads in the tires. Does in 4x4 also. My last step will be new on piece drive shaft possible. Need to ask mike what was the thickness that he dropped his carrier and see if that helps first. Any ideas.

Get an angle finder and check your angles on your rear driveline. Does the steering wheel vibrate when it happens, or mostly the truck itself? If it's the wheel, blame balance, if it's the truck, driveline. This is a pretty good video on the subject, but there are many more that work well also.

I have some random spacers and the washers that are the same size you can have to try out until you find the right size for the carrier drop. It's hit or miss what works on some and what works on others mine took 3mm at 3" lift and 8mm on the 6" lift. Still shakes but I have a bent rim now.

I ended up doing 3* shims and 3 or 4ish mm flat washers i got off of gid. I still have a slight vib between 5 and 20 mph, but i live with it. Just play around with it.
