Anyone have an old torn cover they want to donate? Mine is long gone. I need one for a mold to cover with carbon fiber.

The switch (electrical) on the side is for the lumbar back adjustment and the circular knob (manual) is to adjust the lower seat cushion.

Would you sell some carbon fiber interior parts if you made them? I'm missing the whole thing on the 02 buckets I bought for my first gen.

I went to the stealership and they said they still have them in stock. I have Limited seats so I can only go through Toyota...Not cheap at'all!

Check ebay - also not cheap. Maybe a better deal than the dealership. I googled Tacoma seat plastic and it gave me a bunch of first gen parts for like $90. Ew...

Making a custom cover, Whether, It be Aluminum or Carbon Fiber, Will run you waaaay more than an OEM piece. Unless you have the materials & make it your self.

Otherwise, Buy a new Piece & And mount the strong points on it.

If I had a cracked one I'd just fiberglass the back of it. Missing the whole piece entirely will have to get fixed at some point - I'll probably hold out for a junk yard / part out find unless someone makes replacement carbon fiber ones ahem ahem @mechanicjon

If you fiberglassed a cracked one, It would just crack again.

Like the other poster said...If you have a Lifted Taco, Your right ass is gone rub it getting in, And getting out, And it'll stress crack again.

    Then you're back to square 1 ;-)

I can deal with cracks all day (input joke here) - I'd make it work because my $80 to replace it would never materialize. Sand it down, paint it, do what I gotta do. Since mine is missing completely, I'd sooner find a part off a beat up pair of seats at a junkyard than put a bunch of money in something that would apparently crack again if it did the first time :(

Edit: @Jedi Yota man you missed the point of what I was saying with the fiberglass - I was addressing the cracks and gaps people are getting in the plastic, not a structural fix - I'd probably probably end up doing something like you did or making a metal bracket to fit inside it to take the weight while someone rolls over that spot with their heiny.

If you're going to lift your truck (for off roading) then get sliders and problem solved - you'll step up on it and be aiming your derrière from above and miss the plastic piece altogether.

I was thinking of laying a piece of sheet metal in back of cover when i laid the carbon fiber. Essentially sandwitching it in the carbon fiber layers. It's all an idea now. Nothing proven yet.

Covering an existing shape weather it be 2 pieces glued and shaped with body filler or one piece. Is the easiest.

That's why you use one of my plates to go behind it. Fixes the problem and you can use a broken cover over again.

Mootsman, you don’t need that “little plastic hook piece that goes into the slot” just drill a hole thru the plastic piece, the metal bracket and bolt it on
