Ive never felt this engine as underpowered. But I have the manual tranny.

If you're trying to punch it at 1500rpm to 2k, then ya it's weak. Anything above that and it's just fine.

When that rpm gets up there it moves out damm fast. More than I need. If you want that instantaneous low end torque feel get an 8.

Why? Their review was spot on, with all trucks. Didn't see any bias at all.

You 3rd gen fanboys are funny.

No, they must all be wrong , biased, opinionated and paid off by the twins and Honda.

Problem is do you really want a Ridgeline or Nissan ? Colorado chevy ? GMC ? Not me. That's why people get Toyotas.

Ill never buy any of those, but that doesnt mean they arent solid trucks and better in some ways than our trucks.

Every vehicle has issues. But if you want a 6 cyl, those are the choices.
Colorado might be the only other possible choice but the Chevys I had were headaches and reliability issues. Toy has always been good for me.

Am I the only 6 foot tall male on the planet that doesnt think the seats suck? I think my truck is very comfortable. Much more so than the wrangler unlimited I decided to buy this over.

Edit: I also like the ride of my truck. It feels more stable and less bouncy than the 16 F150 I drive every day for work.

Edit 2: Looks like they complained about seating position on a few of the trucks not just the Tacoma, I feel like these complaints should be directed towards federal safety regulations that force these seating positions.

I'm 6 1 and don't have an issue with it at all. Actually I love the lumbar support.

It's not like a truck would ever need to produce torque off idle or anything.

I'm talking like the upper gears. First and 2nd seem fine down low.

I'm just poking fun, I haven't driven a 3.5L Tacoma. Honestly it sounds like you have to drive it more like the 22R than the 1GR. Toyota gasoline engines for a long time have liked to be higher in RPM, which is why double transfer cases and 4.7:1 gear sets exist.

Yeah but the 2017 has a different gear ratio in the rear.... remember?

I'm with you man... I'm 5'-11' last time I checked and the seats are VERY comfy for me.. I have the TRD/4X4/Sport/upgrade/Premium... don't know if the seats are any different than the others..???
    Love the comfort...!!

I've owned a Canyon since the end of February. The 'honeymoon' is over and I'm just beginning to settle into it. After owning combined tacoma ownership for 15 years?? I went in another direction.

I'll agree with them on the road noise. Truck is much quieter inside than my 2007 tacoma was. I don't care too much about how the interior looks or the styling - as long as its put together nicely. My only gripe - the interior gets dirty easily. Like the panels have a higher texture and the dirt sticks to it easier - or its just me? LOL

Canyon & Colorado now have Carplay & Android Auto. These systems are nice to have - but they're clunky and inconsistent. They don't work like you'd expect..... which requires you to 'learn' the system and how to use it. They need to do a lot of refinement with the programming. I love being able to text my husband thru the voice commands - but even then, there are weird techno glitches you have to 'work around'.

The Auto 4WD is a nice touch.....seen it work at a stop sign on a slightly wet road....rear wheels start to slip and you can feel the front kick in.

It's a truck....rides like a truck, feels heavy duty...and I personally like that. Not an offroad truck by any means (sits too low to the ground) although I'm sure its capable if you were daring enough to try it!

Like you guys.... the Canyon (or mine does) has a shifting (??) issue. This happens more so at 30mph-ish and you coast for a bit, put the gas on again ...the thing hiccups and stutters. You really have to put your foot in to wake it up.
I haven't been back to the dealership yet to complain about that..... should have my first oil change in the next month or so. I have a list of things to bring up to them. LOL

It's a truck....and I bought it (over the tacoma) because it has more available options than the tacoma does. No regrets yet.... (knock on woo)

Blasphemy. Only Tacomas have shifting issues.
