They stiffen the ride a bit. I guess they would not really work if they didn't. I have minimal squat now loaded with RTT/Camping Equipment and a 14 foot trailer with a 4 seater side by side.

Just so everyone knows the offside wheel was off the ground when I took this photo. I assume the summo spring was stopping the articulation but it could have been the shock on the other side bottoming out.

So according to the supersprings website the sumosprings compress about 50% of their height, that is of the blue material, not the total hieght. Your pic seems to support this @nevadabugle . With a standard lift provided by a dakar leafpack I wonder how much of a gap there would be between the sumo and the frame. It would seem that the compressed height would be about 2 inches taller than the factory bumpstops.

Raise my limited 5/8”. The ride is very little different. No side to side roll. You will love them. No air compresser.

They definitely wont touch with your Dakars and no weight. Since these give about 5/8 lift with factory springs I would guess if you subtracted the 5/8 or 3/4 an inch from the amount of lift you got with the Dakars then the gap unweighted should be the difference.

For an easy math example....if you Dakars gave you 2 and 5/8 inches worth of lift, there would be 2 inches of travel before you hit the summos. Does that make sense?

I am curious, for those with additional spring height, how the transition phase feels - from no contact with the sumosprings to contact/compression. I'll be adding these along with an AAL and understand I'll have a bit of a gap - approx 1/4" - 1/2"

Just curious what add a leaf. As the stiffness if the AAL could affect how that transition feels.

Icon 3-leaf progressive with the stock overload removed. I want it compliant with no load, and then progressively stiffer as load is added.

Sure, now that I just did this last weekend, you post a how-to! :)
The only issue I had was trying to read the damn torque wrench while under the truck.

I took my travel trailer out this weekend to the mountains. Normally without the springs, my rear end would squat and be lower than the front. I hated the look and ride. Put these on, and now it sits perfectly level when hooked up. Unhooked, the rear end sits a tad higher which is perfectly fine with me. They do stiffen the ride quite a bit. While towing, it used to be a long drawn out up and down motion over bumps. Now, it's more of a quick bump. It is definitely more stiff but overall, I'm satisfied with these.

Edit: I believe the model I ordered were the SSR-610-40 springs. Not the heavier load ones.

Someone else posted that these came in two different models.

I think I'd discourage the heavier SS; they're for the Tundra. If you put them on the Tacoma your rear end would likely be VERY high, and ride quite stiff.
I've had the SS40s on my '16 TRD Off Road for about 6 months and 5000 miles and am very happy. A snap to install. Truck has Snugtop cap, and 100lbs of gear in it full time, very slight lift in the back, no noticable change in ride.
Camping: 275lb tongue weight, 2400 lbs of Chalet A frame trailer, couple hundred pounds of gear in truck + dog... Truck is near level, no squat.
    IMHO, a worthy accessory. 20160404_133357.jpg

anyone trying to buy a new set of u-bolts? either OEM or other?

i did a u-bolt flip on my last truck and i had a hell of a time getting them to stay torqued correctly, i want to avoid that this time around, even though it's just replacing the bump stops.

Ok I got my Sumo springs installed. Very easy to do. It took me 1/2 hour to install. I used an 18 volt impact driver w a deep socket. It takes those u bolts right off and on quickly. I have had them on for 2 days now and I can say how impressed I am with them. I went 4 wheeling over rocks and also flexing the rear suspension to the max thru washed out roads with deep ruts in them. My best guess is that I might lose 1 inch of travel at full compression. First the ride feels very stock to me. It does not feel firmer to me. It did raise my rear end 1/2 inch which I liked. I also did fast runs thru rocky and uneven dirt roads and the ride was perfect. I also just hauled a full bed of dirt and rocks. It helped handle the load very well. I would recommend this product to anyone who carries a load or tows a trailer. I have the TRDOR 4x4 for comparison. The best thing is if you don't like them or no longer need them it's only 1/2 hour to put the factory bump stops back on. Nothing to lose.

Congrats on your decision to purchase. Let me know how you like them after install and test riding.

Thanks for a great write up! I am planning to install these this weekend on my truck, excited to see the results. I do tow and haul stuff in the bed for my business/fun, so looking forward to the benefits.
