I've used tacomaworld for a while now but just now created an account due to a major issue I am having with my 2008 instrument cluster.

I attempted to do the LED replacement mod for my instrument cluster and the lights work fine (after redoing my soldering several times), but now none of my instruments work (fuel, tach, speedo, etc.). The voltage regulator in the center of the board gets EXTREMELY hot whenever it is plugged in. Has anybody had experience with this problem or have insight into how to fix? I ultimately replaced the board but would like to get my original working for odometer purposes.

    -Nick

P.S. I am at school now but pictures of the original board will follow

Damn, hope it all works out. It'd be nice to change things out like you did, but after watching the video and seeing how in depth I'd have to go, I decided that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze.
