Curiouser and curiouser. Im thinking that the DS yanked the nut right off the pinion shaft. Almost like the shaft was too short.

I wonder if the slip yoke fully extends.

The slip yoke would pull out of the driveshaft

Slip yoke is fine. Moves easy and is greased.

    :notsure:

What else would cause the pinion nut to not have any threads left on it?

@SCRunner12 does the black end go towards the throttle body?

Probably. It's a check valve for the IAC. just put it in and cleaned the MAF. Runs way better. Doesn't get choked up. Gonna take it for a spin and see what happens.

Uh that's the wrong part...haha. That's a pcv valve, you need the IAC check valve. http://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~trd~sc~34~check~valv~ptr29-60031.html

That pcv might work if it only allows air one way but that bend will restrict flow.

    image.jpg

You want the air to flow from the throttle body to the engine. I thought you had it this whole time but that really helps with the higher rpm pulls. I installed mine backwards the first time and it would go dead after 3000 rpm.

That's the part you told me to get last time. It's a check valve. :notsure: the Trd one is discontinued. No one seems to have it. I'll order it though.

Well it drives a bit better. 1-3k seems better. But at 3k it's still gutless. You can feel it hold back hard somehow at WOT at 3-4k rpm but at half/quarter throttle is seems okay.

    Gotta be timing.

Well. Time to catch up on some photos.

Lets do the Roof Rack and SC first.

Jon @45acp offered to build a Roof rack for me. Well i wanted something super simple and slim. Ended up just bending some aluminum cargo rails from US cargo. He followed the roof line.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-9.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-8.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Got some super cheap little LED bars for side lights too. Mounting took some doing.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Took Carraige bolts and flattened them and they needed trimmed around the edges too. Once done, they fit perfect.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-2.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-3.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-4.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Of course the bolts didn't fit the LED bars.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-5.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

But.. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY! :D

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-6.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Fit great right by the extended cab

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-7.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

So, then i mocked up the rails and prepped for drilling..

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-10.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

annnnd then drilled the first hole.....of...18..

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-11.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-12.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

    Ouch.

Anyways. the way i did it was started in the center. The rails Jon bent where great. but not quiet perfect, however they where aluminum. So i knew that the bolts would suck it down flush or close. By starting with the middleish bolt on the hump of the extended cab I knew it would work out fine.

I used stainless hardware of course. 1/4'' bolts with nylock nuts and large fenderwashers.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-13.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

This is the hole i started on

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-14.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

As you can see, not 100% perfect, but damn good.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-15.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Sucking the bolt down worked great.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-16.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Just move outwards from there to finish up.

    Heres a inside look

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-17.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-18.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-19.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Got a little lucky on my placement of the rails. Too far to the outside and id have been screwed. The two end bolts are a MAJOR PITA to get sucked down.

Once i had it roughed up. I undid all the bolts and used Silicon on them to seal it. Plan on also running a bead all up and down both sides of the rails just in case.

Look good though i think. Do what i want and are a lot stronger then i thought they would be. Can support me leaning on them all the way. More then i'll ever use them for.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-20.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-21.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-22.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Just how i had envisioned it. Huge thanks to Jon for the help!

Now just need to paint them.

Now the fucking SC. Which as far as im concerned is the biggest waste of money i have ever done to Frank. But i did it none the less.

Huge thanks to @909DC5 for selling me the blower and damn good job packing it! Like. Wow.

Same goes to @Clay_916 for selling me the 2.1'' pulley and URD kit. Stellar job packing.

So i bought a blower and started buying all the other parts to put it all together. Had a nice pile after a few weeks.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-23.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Tore the thing open. I'll admit i didn't document the rebuild process. Plenty of threads on that. But did take some photos that i thought was interesting and you don't see a lot of.

Oil smelled like shit. Like terrible.

Don't see these tore apart a lot.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-28.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Needed to use a puller to get the damn stock pulley off.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-29.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

7th kit. Shipped and packed like a boss.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-30.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Frankenstein Build-31.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Pulleys. the URD may look better but the internal diameter is smaller.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-32.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Then i rebuild the nose cone with new bearings and tapped the top for a fill plug

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-33.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

    This is the 7th injector.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-34.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

And after hours of bitching with vacuum lines. Done.

[IMG]Frankenstein Build-35.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Next i took it wheeling. Tried to make it to Shoshone Lake in Lander to meet with Brett @Squeaky Penguin but the truck wouldn't run. But i made it work and hauled ass down there the next day to meet him and my buddy Marc to hit Christina Lake.

Marc @SconnieHailer and other Brett @BossFoss brought their dirt bikes though for some reason. Pussies :luvya: As well as 3 other friends on bike. So we hit the trail and bobbed a long. Got to this spot and flexed it out good!

[IMG]Christina Lake 2016.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Of course it was at this moment that i realized my 4wd wasn't working. Turned out the main relay just wasn't clicking over but found that out much later. So, i just did the whole trail in 2wd locked! Prerunner bitch! Sadly that meant i couldn't do the hard parts. Two climbs particularly that i wanted to do. Oh well.

Brett did it though easy. narrow wheelbase helped a lot.

[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-7.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-8.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Then the fun part. Big river crossing with a big ledge at the other end. One of the other bikers named Brandon tried it and spilled his bike.

When we went to leave for the lake. His bike wouldn't start. He pulled out a little quick jumper and fired right up but would die as soon as the jumper was removed. After looking the bike over and poking around. We figured the battery had ruptured. Since it was fuel injected it needed power no matter what. He didn't want to leave the bike there all weekend to wait for a new battery so...they took the bike apart and after some nice rearranging shoved it into the back of Bretts rig.

[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-9.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-10.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

Turned around at that point and was back at camp before dark.

The next day i also stopped at swapped brains out of Bretts @BossFoss parts rig. A 97 4x4 MT.

[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-11.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

This is hilarious. Before and after

[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-12.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

    And the brainzzzzz

[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-13.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr
[IMG]Christina Lake 2016-14.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

And signed Franks Originals brains....maybe i'll ask for them back to mount on the wall :p or maybe just get them back since i think it ran better with them..
