I believe Old School is working on this .
He is working on it as I type this .
Last I heard , there were some bolting mismatches where the dipstick tube mounts to the engine , but I am sure it could be modded to fit .

New Navigation DVD/CD/TV/AV/Bluetooth Stereo and seat mod spacers, 1" hubcentric spacers, seat heaters....
If not mentioned before, do the drain and refill about 5 or 6 times in a row(make sure to have lots of quarts of tranny fluid available), doing it once just changes out a small amount...it does make a world of difference in tranny smoothness and shifting. Took me about an hour to do the deed, well worth it IMHO...

As long as the pan bolts up, and the tube clears the header, then making a little retainer bracket is no sweat.

You fellas know the difference between transmission and tranny right? I mean, every single time I read the aforementioned, I cringe.

If you need to shorten it, could you just type "trans"? Lol

We are talking about trucks here

unreal, 100k is nothing, i HATE dodge, but even a dodge can last that long with no issues (usually)

I plan on keeping my 11 taco for the long haul (no pun intended) I DEMAND it lasts 300k miles, and it better because it financially DESTROYED me to acquire it and will take me many......MANY..years to make that money back on my low income.
I just did a drain and fill today at 32k miles, I will be doing a drain and fill every 5k miles to keep the fluid renewed constantly. Oil changes at 3k.
I hope i am on the right path (no pun intended)

    (ok some pun)

What's the best fluid to use in our trucks? Seems that the Toyota WS fluid isn't all the great input would be great

For a drain and fill - I'd assume you would want to use the same fluid that's already in there, because you're mixing a large portion of old and new.

My Subarus had transmissions that didn't like me very much. They were Jatco transmissions, something to do with the way they learned didn't work well with how I drive. They would hesitate, have harsh shifts, just overall act like they were on borrowed time. But if I went into FreeSSM and reset the transmission learning memory they would be fantastic for 5k or so. I just started doing that every oil change.

The Tacoma transmission has been great so far. Not once has it done anything that worried me. It's a good unit. Made by Aisin and was put behind the 4.7 before our trucks.

So how would I go about just checking the level. Never wrenched on a trans before.

Aisin makes the best transmissions. I had a 95 Mistubishi Montero that I'd built up for overland and trails that has 220,000 miles on it before I sold it a few weeks ago. The original transmission was still going strong even after I abused the hell out of it. Just before I sold it, I loaded up a trailer and the rig, drove from NC to central Texas and back. High speed, slow and stopped traffic: it didn't care. Water crossings: no problem. Steep hills and rocks: it'd ask for more. 10 years I had it and put it through some rough times. Not one issue.

So yeah, Aisin makes good stuff.

Over kill on both. Just wasting your money. Especially on the trans.

The word 'trans' is much more associated with transgender. Tranny can refer to both a transmission and a transgender. If we are splitting hairs.
