Now are you talking about the 17 inch black TRD wheels or the 16 inch OEM wheels from the TRD tacoma? I have the 17s on my 3rd gen and the 16 in OEM from the TRD tacoma on my 0420160416_091044.jpg
Do you mean the black or the black and silver?

Those wheels look great on your 04. I'm thinking about going the same route. Did you need spacer or anything or were they a direct fit?

    Thanks

I just put some 2016 OR wheels on my 1st gen and I love the look on the red truck.

I would have to say those '16 wheels are very fitting for the '04 body style.

Agreed, the 2nd Gen wheels just don't look as good on the 1st gen but the '16s are :bananadance:

I took my truck in to get my 3rd gen wheels swapped on and they said I'd need a spacer. They recommended a 1/4" spacer. I'm running 265/75 16 tires. While jacked up, the tires touched the suspension and when on the ground had about 1/4" between tire and suspension. Have you guys had any trouble since the 3rd gen wheel install?? Would you recommend a spacer?

    I didn't need spacers.

    Thanks for the reply.

You mentioned in your build that your tires did hit the suspension (when turning for parking etc.). Is that still true?

    Yup. Still happens.

But spacers make the rubbing worse. I just live with it. I'm hoping the new SPC Upper Control Arms I'm getting will prevent this issue.

For those who want an idea how it looks in black/limited. I had mine on since last year, no spacers.

Those are the same ones I wanted, but got a great deal on these. Still really like yours though.

Bringing up old thread, but do you think I’ll need wheel spacers to run 285/75/16 on 3rd gen rims?

Running 265/70/16 and there’s very little space between tire and UCA

    Set up:

OME nitros with 883 and dakar 2.25 rear
