2014 Tacoma Base Access Manual 5 Speed
Hello, all. I've joined your group to humbly ask for assistance. No doubt, this has been brought up here before but it's difficult to find pertinent information. I recently installed a cruise control stalk into my 2014 Tacoma base access manual 5 speed. It appears to be prewired as the "Cruise" light comes on post installation. However, the vehicles does not engage cruise control at speed. I understand that without a clutch switch for manual, the vehicle is recognizing the lack of clutch switch as a "cruise cancel" command. With that understanding, I humbly ask, where does the clutch switch get installed? Please provide kindergarten level pictures and please don't refer me to a previous post without providing a link. Thank you in advance for your expertise and patience.

Welcome! I have no idea of the answer, but I'm sure someone will chime in. @Clearwater Bill has a 5 lug so maybe he can point you in the right direction (sorry if you can't bill. You're the only 5 lugger I know)

I have a 1st gen, but love learning about these trucks. Have you considered subscribing to an AldataDIY account? They have very good manuals for every vehicle out there. Im sure it would have diagrams showing the part you are looking for.

In addition, thank you got a very decent opening post snd not screaming HELP!

I already have all the parts I need (I think). I think that I only need to install the clutch switch but have no idea where it goes. All I know is that I quickly get a bit uncomfortable when cramming myself under the dash with no road map.

I'll guess, because I have an auto, but have had manual vehicles with cruise.

I'd wager it fits in a similar fashion to the one on the brake. The easiest way to get a look is by aiming a light up under the dash and using a hand mirror down at floor level. Saves you getting upside down while studying the situation.

So. I'd examine the switch for the brake arm, then look around the clutch arm and see if there is an empty bracket waiting for the switch.

Hope I'm warm. If not, at least I didn't cost you anything, and kept you from getting under the dash for a while :D

If you look up under at the clutch pedal, there is a bolt with a jamb nut that stops the pedal from travelling too far upward. This must be removed, and the switch installed with the jamb nut, keeping the compressed length of the switch the same as the bolt was to keep the pedal freeplay adjustment the same as it was.

The wire lead should be taped to the outside of a large wiring harness up above somewhere - I recall from years ago that finding this wire with (I think it's a white connector plug) the two pin plug was the hardest part of the cruise install.

Duh, something I just thought of. Take a pic of the switch and I'll go rooting around under my dash tomorrow and see what I find. I have a manual.

    Good question.

My 05 6spd had cruise control from the previous owner.

    Mine works fully sometimes
Then doesn't come on at all the next day...

The plug is there as well . It's taped up. Just untape it to make longer. Thread in sensor in first . then plug it in .
