Do new 4Runner's have any problems? Are they pretty solid SUV's? Do the guys butch about them like the 3rd generation?

Go over to T4R.org or 4Runners.com and see for yourself.

For the most part, no, they don't bitch and whine anywhere near the degree seen here in 3rd gen land. Not a ding against 3rd gens, just a fact.

Meant to add the 5th gen 4runners kept the slightly different from Tacoma 4.0 V6 so what's under the hood is much more similar to 2nd gens than a 3rd gen

The customer base for the 4runner is more mature so the forum is much less of a cluster fuck.

"Do new 4Runner's have any problems?" No. After a week of searching, the 5th Gen 4Runners are as good as it gets. "Are they pretty solid SUV's?" Yes. Look at all the comments on the other TR4 forum. It's hard to find problems with them. I know there have been, but you'll have to dig. There are a lot of stories about off road trips, and mods. "Do the guys butch about them like the 3rd generation?" No.
O.k., I'm biased. I just bought a TR4 SR5 Premium. I've been on TW for 10 months. Not a lot of time, but long enough to realize that Toyota has a lot of work ahead of them to set the 3rd Gen Tacoma's right.

The 4 runner is great. But once they go to the 3.5L van motor, POS 6 speed auto, and unibody then the expletives will fly for sure.

If you sit in the passenger seat with a blindfold on you won't be able to tell if you're in a Sienna, Highlander, or 4runner.

    Thank you :hattip:

I love my 5th gen! Sometimes I miss my 2nd gen Tacoma for the bed, but for the most part I am loving this 4Runner.

Our 2016 4Runner is perfect just like my 1st Gen Taco was... the third gen has a lot of issues going on.

Cant even compare, one is made in Mexico or Texas the other in Japan, there's a reason they're so solid.

Man I can't remember exactly but for some reason I want to say my 2003 tacoma was built in Ohio or Kentucky? Did they have a plant back then in one of those states?

They had a plant in Fremont CA that built them.

My 2010 4Runner has been rock solid. 85k miles later and the only issue is the headlights have fogged over. But there is a tsb for that I just haven't had done yet.
