Radio Nav system shuts off and restarts slowly while driving. This has happened twice so far.

Anybody else experience this issue ?

 

There is a newly released TSB that updates the nav system for this symptom on the 16's. I haven't even performed it on a customers truck yet. Mine has only done it once so I'm leaving it.

 

What Entune TSB?

 

Cool...thanks ! Was worried that i did something to it.

 

Our TSB is for Canadian models, we don't get entune or half of the cool stuff, but it affects the base and premium panasonic stereos.

I would see if it happens again and then bring it to the dealerships attention when you're there next, its just a software issue.

I'm a big fan of not repairing something unless something is truly wrong, sometimes updates can cause other issues.

 

Thats true.. I am going to take it in anyways.. Happened twice.. I already have 13k miles on mine.. So it isnt frequent..but i just want it noted somewhere on toyota paperwork just in case another problem comes up.

 

You could try updating to the v5.2 firmware yourself, that was just released Aug 2016:

I will try the update.. I will post feedback in a week or so to let others know if that seems to fix it. Thanks all for the responses.

 

Can anyone confirm the update file from the Toyota link above will work with Canadian trucks?

 

System updated.. Problem seems to have been solved.

 

Sitting at a red light this morning on way to work, listening to the radio. Radio shutoff on its own and complete silence with blank screen. Dead for about 10 sec and then started up through the sequence it normally goes through after just starting my truck. Seems fine now though. I agree with Bishop 44 and will leave well enough alone and hopefully it doesn't occur again. Nide young Bull in your pic. I'm heading in north of Fort St James end of the month to see if I can his BC Cousin.
