2002 Taco frame rust recall?

So im getting my Virginia state inspection and get informed that my frame is so rusted that the shop was afraid to even put it on the rotary lift. Didnt pass inspection and i hear that the recall was extended to 2017 but my Vin shows no recalls.. Is there any additional information on these recalls? These state inspections are dumb.. When i got stationed out here with my ship i had no idea VA was ridiculous with their vehicles... Currently in the (lengthy and tedious)process of switching my registration back to my home state in sunny south Florida where you only need one plate and inspections dont exist

 

It wasn't a recall, it won't show up as one if they search. If you're not in a rust belt state odds are the shop will be unfamiliar with it and you'll need to take a copy of the memo with you.

 

Inspections may be dumb but without it, you wouldn't have know about your frame issue. Would have sucked if your riding down the road and your truck wanted to split in half.

Search for rusty frames and you will see what some go though and to see if maybe your still covered to get it replaced.

I found it by google. I had the same issue wit my local shop. I had to take it in to verify before they would even talk to me
