It's just wasting money throwing additive in your 2016 Tacoma with a few thousand miles. Do as you please, your truck. I went to a decent dealership the second time around and got the pump changed out. I've probably dumped 10 brands of fuel in my 7k mile journey. Not once did I have to add any additives to quiet the truck down.

I'd rather spend $5 every couple months, than have some bozo messing with my truck.

Not all dealers are created equal. The dealer here couldn't fix a light bulb. Major work will go back to the dealer I bought the truck from. But I don't consider a squeak major

It's not. Just annoyed the crap out of me. Didn't hinder performance.

You think because a technician is "certified" they're good at their job? You've clearly never worked at a dealership or seen how they become certified. It's just a series of online testing and lame videos for the most part. other brands, like Lexus for example, have master certified techs which actually understand mechanics and are very experienced at thier jobs and with the vehicles.

I wasn't trying to challenge you or "your thread", you just seem to think that because you got your fuel pump changed out with no issues it should be that easy for the rest of us which is not true. I've started a case with Toyota because I do not have a dealer in my area that will even check my trans fluid properly. I wish all dealers were created equal but they're not and the 3 that we have in souther Nevada are terrible!

+1. My favorite are the ones who brag about "ASE master tech". I just took all 8 tests a month ago. Got over 95% without studying once. Passing score is 70% I think

I've not had any chirp issues with mine yet at 10k on the clock and I've used only '87 Shell regular and 0W20 Mobil 1 synthetic, dropped at 1100-1200 and again at 5k and will keep it that way as long as they're available.
But as one poster noted before, he had a similar chirp from the top idler bearing due to excessive play which they changed and it went away. I know that's not everyone's issue, but that idler has play on mine also and I will R&R myself it should become as issue. I might get one from a 4R as I believe its the same and no play lolo!

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

My best friend is a GM certified Tech, not a toyota tech. Either way you are correct with the online training, however he does take actual classes. He also reallh cares and enjoys the troubleshooting involved in the business. I know how they operate and it all simple comes down to giving a shit. It's simple. I suppose your area just has shitty customer service. Couple bad apples out there. I guess I got lucky. Sorry you can't get a proper fix for it. Keep trying. Good luck. I'm stuck on this island so any issues I have, like the transmission TSB will have to wait till I get on the main land. Till then the truck has been rock solid.

I don't know about friends. But I'm a gm certified tech and ase certified. Working on cars all day, I'll not going to fret over the little shit on my own vehicles

I've not the pleasure or occasion to replace one of these babies yet, but I imagine the part's not cheap and labor wise some safety precautions are in order. Any ideas as to the price and or any special tool required to R&R?

    Cheers!

I don't have any idea on a Toyota. But on a 3.6 gm, the parts is a couple hundred and 2-3 hours to replace depending on the vehicle

Me either on my toy, but I would imagine dealer labor at about $400 and the pump well north of $600 at the dealer. Either way I expect it will last a good long time using top tier regular fuel and keeping up with the oil change and after that I'll be on my own, but I still have the saved extended warranty money they wanted in the piggy bank lolo!

    Thanks

91 octane is my temporary fix until I get to my 5k check up. Once that time comes I'll get my fuel pump switched, TSB, and my grease zerks checked. I already have had my trans fluid checked and it was 2 quarts low. I just don't have time to be taking my truck to the shop and losing a day of my life

Man that would drive me freaking crazy. Didn't hear it in the first video until you stopped and started talking to the USPS guy. It's right in that I would say 11-13KHz range and with my Tinnitus around the 14KHz range its like a megaphone in my ears.

It's a helluva thing to post something around here and expect to be crucified.
It is therefore that I do admire the courage and desire to help out fellow '16 Taco members here.

And If I should ever develop that noise after following the recommend oil/change, as it does have a lifter type lubrication, that will be my logical next step, since pump fuel is what this thing does.

    Link help much appreciated
    Cheers!

I'm running 6oz of marvel mystery oil per tank. Once this runs out, I'll switch to tcw3. Ran it in my car for ages and the heads and intake were spotless.

They don’t call that stuff marvel mystery oil for no reason.
I used it on my old used jalopies back when I was a teen working to keep those things running. Used it on transmission fuel system and just about everything else and so did everyone else I knew lolo!

    Cheers!

If you look at the MSDS, there is nothing important in it. But it works.
