I would be you have a Broken or loose connection. Check the wires going to anything ignition/spark/coil pack related. Pull ignition cool wiring harness clean them. Start it after dark with no light and see if you can see and sparks

Anything removed or repaired in the motor recently? At your trucks age it's not uncommon for you to pull a pigtail or plug out and have it damaged?

I had a similar problem on my mustang when I did the motor swap the wiring harness was to just to short but it all plugged in after 500 miles one wire just half pulled out of the pig tail.It would run mint till it heated up. Repaired the plug and added 1" of wire been perfect.

Been a real lazy PoS lately! but I want to see an end to this by my hands! I did go through the EGR just now and it wasn't plugged, the diaphragm held vacuum so that was a relief.
going to have to reread everything and get a grip back onto this truck!
I got my hands on my old camera from my sister so if you guys want to see anything in decent quaility or even just a video of me screwing around with it let me know. I took a quick video of the Idle and posted it to youtube.
Probably won't help but at least you'll be able to hear the idle and when I give it a little gas.

besides that I will be replacing the gas filter either tonight or tomorrow.

Not sure if its been mentioned. another thing to look at is the Engine coolant temp sensor.
Engine management depends on this sensor for many things.
you can search, lots of hits online. even videos on how to check this.

it would also really help if the OBD port is fixed so you can get readings to see whats off.

    Good Luck!

Same problem my fan clutch would not disengage, sounded like a vacuum cleaner all the time, so I replaced the fan clutch and still did the same thing sucking all my power, decided to take the radiator out and guess what, behind the AC condenser, the radiator was packed with
mud and dirt, bugs, leaves, you name it, was like a brick, was that hard. I couldn't see any of this until I pulled the radiator because of the AC condenser is covering 3/4 of the radiator, now a new radiator and thermostat now runs even better, AND MY AC IS COLD AGAIN, guess the condenser was not cooling off because the radiator section behind it was plugged
Guess after 503,000 miles it time for a new one anyway,;)

Good luck with the fix! You'll find the problem. It's always something simple in the end. Check your hot and ground wires running to the starter. Otherwise almost sounds like some vacuum hoses got mixed up.

Dent in passenger door; makes the truck faster like dimples on a golf ball.

Mass air flow sensor! unless it's a small part of a more horrible problem...
Today the truck was running correctly long enough for me to unplug the MAF and it died instantly.
any other time disconnecting the MAF would do nothing.
so I guess I got way too carried away. Time to start tracking down the wires and checking them.
    I feel like I'm so close D:

Replace the fuel filter again. You may have a lot of crud in there. Clogged the first filter that you replaced and the second one is clogged now also. Especially if it sat for awhile.

    So yea, fuel filter.
