I drive a 2011 Tacoma Sport 4.0L 4WD dbl cab long bed. The truck came with 17" rims and I was thinking about upgrading to 16" rims. My question, are 16" rims compatible on my truck? I want to upgrade my rims to the pro comp la Paz 29 series rim 16x8. The online dealer (Autoanything.com) tells me that there not compatible because the calipers on my Tacoma sport will rub. Any advice out there?

It depends on the wheel and how much space there is between the wheel and the caliper.. Some 16s will fit, and some not. I have pro comp 7089 in 16s.

    Yes
    A few major variables :

    1. Backspacing, a lot of guys with 16's have to run spacers.

    2. If you are ever going to gusset your spindles 16's will not fit without spacers unless you have a crazy deep negative offset.

    3. Big brake kits - if you are going to add 2000lbs of shit to your truck like most of and may want to get a big brake kit you must stick with 17's.

    4. Tires available - really deep dive into what tire sizes are available for what size rims. You don't want to be forced into a specific tire because it is the only one in the size you need.
