    RUG ROAD WHEELING/TURKEY CREEK CAMP-OUT 2016!!!

    November 18th-20th, FRIDAY-SUNDAY

4wd crew will be wheeling through the infamous 23 mile Rug Road Trail through the Galiuro Mountains to our camping area in Turkey Creek, near Aravaipa Wilderness Preserve. the Phoenix 2wd group will enter in from the east on the graded road route from near Thatcher, east of Globe/San Carlos. Tucson 2wd group will come in from the south from Wilcox through Fort Grant and Bonita.

Info on Rug Road - http://www.experience-az.com/adventures/4wd/rugroad/rugroad.html

    http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/recreation/ohv/rug_road.html

    Departure Meet-up Locations -

    Tucson/Phoenix Badass 4wd Route Crew -
8-8:30 am Friday Oct 14th at the Circle K
    307 Highway 77
Mammoth, AZ 85192. Departure time to trail head at 8:30. Time on trail is 6 hrs minimum. Trail difficulty is rated 3.5-4/5.

***(4WD ROUTE ATTENDEES) SLIDERS, SOME LIFT AND LARGER-THAN-STOCK TIRES ARE REQUIRED FOR 4WD ROUTE. SOME SECTIONS ARE LONG, STEEP AND WINDING, WITH MANY LOOSE SHELF ROAD SECTIONS. VERY ROCKY/BOULDERY AREAS WILL BE ENCOUNTERED. ARIZONA PINSTRIPING IS A GUARANTEE AND SPOTTING THROUGH OBSTACLES MAY BE REQUIRED. CB RADIO IS ALSO RECOMMENDED***

Phoenix 2wd/prerunner Backdoor Deep Lube-less Penetration Crew - (Meet-up TBD)

Tucson 2wd/prerunner Banana-Ram From The South Penetration Crew - (Meet-up TBD)

Due to the size of the group interested in doing the 4wd route, and as long as drop-outs are minimal, the 4wd attendees will be split into two groups. Each group will have a trail leader with prior experience running the route.

The first group will depart 15-30 mins prior to the second, to avoid trail crowding at obstacles. This should allow both groups to make good time through the trail and to camp. Should dropouts occur (and they will) and if the attendee list drops under 10, we will revert back to a one-group run. Final details will be decided and discussed at the air down location at the trailhead.

Shit man! We've just about got enough to do two groups on the 4×4 route. We could run 2 groups of 8. Or 10. More may sign up. I can lead group 2 if everybody's cool with that. I've probably run the road more than anyone else with the exception of jeepers, including once alone.

If we end up needing a trail leader for a second group you'll be it!

Maybe I should change the 4wd lists to "group 1" and "group 2".. I can always recombine it we have a mass-dropout.

Sweet! So you're currently signed up for the 2wd route.. Would you like to be on the 4wd route instead?

Gotcha bud. Between you Mike and I we should be able to make some good shit happen.

If it comes down to splitting groups, we need to come up with some super awesome group names!

Can one group be called the "carpet munchers" in honor of rug road... It just seems right
