I just bought a 2017 SR5 and want to lift it. I'm not sure what lift to get or what size lift to get. What do you recommend? I will take it off road but not very often. Probably 80% pavement and 20% off road. Any info will help. Thanks

Lots of options out there and threads. Search Toytec, Icon, Fox, and King for quality lifts. There are spacer lifts and what not, but those aren't really recommended.

    Happy hunting.

Why don't you do some research?

Congrats on a new SR5 by the way, I just got a new SR5 as well :D however mine is only 2WD.

Justguth gave you some good brands.

I recommend 3" lifts since yours is a 4x4. Typically, any more than 3" on a 4X4 will be more costly; such as a 6" lift. Since mine is 2WD, I can accommodate for 4" lifts without cutting major internal components underneath.

(This is from a post I replied to on another individual's thread that asked about lifts.) I first wanted a 6" lift and asked everyone around here about it. They really veer away from 6" lifts. It's a lot more expensive than you think. There are a number of ramifications to purchasing a 6" lift.

It's going to cost a lot more than your budget for a good kit. With a 6" lift, you're going to have to cut some of the internal components (which are permanent modifications which then further depreciates your truck), and then with your big tires, you'll most likely have to get your truck trimmed as well. The other downside to having this 6" lift is that you're going to have one hell of a hard time if you want to revert it back to stock in the future or if you downgrade to a smaller lift. 6" lifts are really overkill. The stock Tacoma or even the 3" lift can handle majority of the terrain that you'll be driving around. (Assuming you'll be doing some mediocre off road driving, and none of that rock climbing stuff). Since you do have a smaller engine, lifting your truck will create more drag especially when driving down highways so it'll put more effort onto your engine.

It really all depends why you need the lift. If it's just for aesthetics and you won't be doing any off road driving/climbing at all, please reconsider. It may not be worth it to do all that. Plus, it's also frowned upon to look like those "huge lifted truck posers who try to compensate for something."

The pro's here can certainly help you out and give you more information. This is just information that I've acknowledged asking almost the same question.

I have done research and know nothing about lifts or brand of lifts. I have never lifted a vehicle before or owned a Toyota before. Thought I would ask on here so I can get opinions/thoughts from people who have lifted a Toyota before. Thanks for your opinion though bud
