Can't find enough info here on TW or across the Internet, so hopefully someone can give some insight. local craigslist guy has take off coils and 4 shocks from his 2016 TRD OR. I've learned the 2nd and 3rd gen coils are interchangeable. And I've heard someone on the forum claim that the 3rd gens DO sit higher than the 2nd gen but where his info came from I do not know and of course I can't find any specifics.

I'm riding on stock sport suspension and would like to maintain a smooth on road ride.

Will the 2016 OR coils provide any lift up front? And how will they ride in comparison to 09' sport coils? Would I be better off with OME 884's and 5100's for a smoother ride?

Id have to measure but I'm pretty sure an inch won't even bring me up to level. Might have to pass on the deal if this is the case.

So I just got a pair of 16 trd sport coils. So you are saying they will add an inch of height to my 08

That's what is sounds like, but I don't have any experience. All I've found for sure is that they will fit 2nd gen...

Would you be able to tell by the size of the spring? The 3rd gens are 14.5" high. Anyone know how high the 2nd gens are

It would probably point you in the right direction but I'm sure whatever the height difference is, their still may be a rate difference. Could be the same height but stiffer spring or could be a longer spring with lighter rating. Surprised with them being compatible on our trucks that nobody has more experience on this.

My problem now is Im putting on 5100s and planned on setting them at 1.75 with a toytec AAL. But if these springs add another inch to the front I think I want to drop the front to .85 as I would like to retain some rake. So if someone could confirm that the 3rd gen coils do in fact add an inch of lift I would greatly appreciate it.

Just keep throwin' money at it.
Sorry to bump an old thread. Did anyone find that a 3rd gens suspension added any lift to their 2nd gen? I've got a line on some cheap TRD take offs and I'm thinking based on the 70k mi on my suspension they will add a little lift just being newer and lower mileage. Thoughts?

I have the 3rd gen coils with 5100s set to .85 and my front sits at about 22". I don't have pre lift measurements tho. Stock is 20.5 I believe tho.

So if I had to guess the spring rate is higher and that's what gives it the lift?

Im not sure about the 3rd gen coils, but i know that the progressive 2nd gen coils have a spring rate 50lbs higher than those on the sr5 and trd sports. I would assume that the increase in spring rate would have to account for the lift since they are the same length. Im getting my coils installed this weekend so i can post before and after measurements if youre interested. The measurements could be somewhat skewed though since im also setting billies at .85 with them.
