Wife at Escondido Toyota trying to get the transmission TSB and howling noise TSB done claim they have to duplicate. Never heard of the howling so they claim. I asked about checking the VIN and got some story. Shouldn't these Toyota Bulletins just be done when requested. Does anyone have a north San Diego Toyota dealership and service advisor they recommend?

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
always good to have the TSB number or even a copy of it handy when going in.

You might have thought. However, this costs Toyota money, and they don't want to spend the money for nothing. Normally, a dealership will consider applying a TSB if your symptoms indicate the necessity of the TSB application. That said, it sounds like you may need to call Toyota and open up a case. If you go that route, Toyota will manage your repair and make sure you get taken care of. Calling Toyota also helps them know a more accurate statistic of customer complaints.

A case has been open since April 22 nd 2016 at 917 miles. Toyota remained in denial until the announcement of T-SB-0077-16. Improvement after up date however any issue is ignored or passed over as unable to duplicate customer's concern . Frustrated five time Tacomas purchased new currently still have a2010 in my family, regular service only never visited shop with an issue , thus reason for returning to Toyota for the new improved better Tacoma. Thanks for advice, just inquisitive if issue is present with other 16 Tacoma owners.Taco factory ordered in January delivered March 25th 2016. Issue shudder, surge while driving, in 6 th gear not in shift mode.

On occasion. Most of mine are 3-4 flair ups when the engine is not up to normal operating temperature. 2016 TRD OR with TSB done.

I still have a 3-4 flair only once after it has sat awhile, after that one time it shifts fine.

You likely have a defective transmission. Call Toyota corporate (800-331-4331) and file a case. You need to protect yourself if you have trouble down the road. Toyota is aware of the problem.

I had the TSB done a few weeks back and it help solve my rev to drive delays and some of the sudden surging when pulling into the garage. It seems to have made the shift points way better but lately I have noticed after going 40 or 50 and the coming to a more sudden stop the trans seems to make a harder downshift from what seems second to first. It jolts just a little bit and with the radio down you can hear it. Anyone else have anything similar?

There is a link for the procedure. I also used a temp gun also on the pan and when it hit 95 degrees f , the D came on the dash. I did mine pinned and unpinned, same results. Mine was 3/4 of a quart low. It was very easy. My dealer said the tramission are full and would not check unless I have a problem. It took about 1/2 hour. It does take about 10 mins to reach 95 degrees.

Brad, you seem to be pushing everyone to call Toyota, I have a 100k warranty and I reported it to the dealer, so it is on my record. Having been a line tech intermentent problems like this are hard to diagnoise, also seeing it happens only once then is fine leads me to believe it is a leak down on the 3rd to 4th section of the valve body, line pressure for that portion. or a solenoid spring pressure issue, that in itself will not cause a transmission failure any time soon as it only flairs once then is fine while driving till it sits again. In fact, if you stop before it shifts, say on a side street, light, etc it doesn't do it, so that tells me it's a pressure issue. Is it annoying, yes but not a recall or total transmission replacement issue.

I had mine done Saturday morning and put about 125 miles on the truck since, my mileage seems to be less so far. I will run another tank or two to see what I get, I hope it's just my driving and not the tsb.

Hi Bob. I think your description is pretty accurate, in my opinion. I am inclined to think Aisin must be working on some updated hardware especially with Toyota corp. driving them. The hardware may be a valve body assembly with updated componentry/tolerances/o-rings etc.... I know Sonnax came up with some creative solutions to the gen 2 tranny. They were all valve body improvements to substantially reduce pressure leakdown. Thank you for your thoughts and input.
