Question: What size turbo should I use?

I've spent a few hours digging around and so far i can't figure out a good turbo size for the Tacoma 4.0. I'm doing this whole thing myself and have the tools (minus the welder but I'll be buying one first thing after I replace my worn down tires) and knowledge to do this job. I have a friend that can remap my ecu. I've considered a cummins turbo but worried that it'll be too much for my engine. Meanwhile, other turbos seem too small when reading displacement
recommendations. Haven't found one that's a good size and can't find anything online telling me the best size for my engine. Any suggestions?

And before someone tells me to buy a kit, no. I will not buy a kit

Cant help you on the size check out xr underground you should find your answer there. I have the urd system and very pleased with it. It's a belt driven turbo.

I've looked into it. I'd love to have it but it's out of my budget. the specs are insane and it doesn't take up hardly any space. And ill definitely check out xr underground. thank you for the tip

Use one of the many on line calculators that are out there, do your research, learn what compressor maps mean and how to plot PR vs. flow.
If you do this you will be much more satisfied with you outcome of useable power instead of guessing.
