Yeah, I hear you...my Jeep was going to be stock too...I put a 3" lift on it, a snorkel, etc etc...unfortunately, the rust got to it. I could've bought frame members and welded them in but the engine had 390K on it and it was starting to use more oil than I'd like. I sold it for parts to some guy that answered my Craigslist ad....I gave him full disclosure but he bit anyway.

If I had been religious about having the undercarriage oiled every year, I'd probably still be driving it, albeit with a new engine, most likely.

This Taco has to last me many years so I WILL take it religiously to the "oil it up" shop annually.

Now about those mods I'll never do........

I would consider waiting. Kenwood just revealed a handheld that does D*Star and APRS, though not sure about FUSION. The TM-V71A is a good standby and priced in a good position to give you a chance for a later upgrade.

I still haven't been able to find the post/picture that I thought was deep in this thread, but I did find this mount that is what I think I remember seeing!

Has anyone used this doorjam mount by Firestik between the bed/tailgate on a 3rd Gen for ham mobile 2m antenna?

The new kenwood TH-d74 is an upgrade of the d72. I haven't seen anything about Fusion in regards to it. Added D-star and a better, color display. Best guess on price is ~$530. I want it, but that's a hard price to swallow.

Search YouTube, there are a few videos on it already.

Saw one article on the TH-d74 that had it priced at 750Yen with exchange rates that's like $930us. Haven't seen any official US pricing yet though.

The price never directly translates. No official us date or price, but I would bet a nickel it is in the $500 range, or less.

Go check the price of the d72a in yen, it is in that 700 range too.

Any will work. Go to HRO and just grab one off the shelf. I think I'm using the RG58U dual shield stuff. I terminate my own connectors most times cause that fat pl259 gets in the way.

Which mount is that? I've seen it before cut can't remember. It looks great.

Oh. It's a CB antenna bracket?

Looks like he going to have to enlarge that hole for NMO, I think.

Yeah, it's the Firestik CB mount. Only mount I could find for where I want antenna (corner of bed between tailgate). I guess I'll have to take a road trip to HRO. I'm wondering if one of the NMO thick roof mounts that come disassembled would work with existing hole, otherwise guess I'll have to fab something up!

Fair chance it might, light dremmeling if anything. I've used the thick mount before.
