I have a TRD OR 4x4 6MT and have experience the same lag stepping on the gas pedal not from a complete stop but going below 20 mph. Just the other night on two occasions while merging into traffic and while making a left turn across 2 lanes, talk about squeezing your behind. $.02

Interesting.... Total loss of power? Like 2 full seconds of nothing and then it took off like a bat out of hell? I have had a few confirm that they experience this with the AT but i believe that you are the first to experience it in a manual. Mine is sometimes from a crawl and not from a totally full stop also and usually always when the wheel is turned left. Only one time was i turning right.

Thanks so much for the $.02! Adds credit to it not being transmission related... I am thinking more and more that it is the traction control system killing power.

Shouldn't YOU be yelling ROLL TIDE or making sure your 'MANBUN' hasn't slipped out of your scrunchie?

My two cents coming from a TRD OR 4x4 6MT, I try not to let the RPMs get below 2K in any situation, there is zero power in the low band. The beauty of the MT is that I can keep it at the RPMs that I want so I have the power when I want. When I find myself in the low band, downshift!

Again with the freeway sh*t?! Man, now i just have to ask... Are you all there upstairs? For at least the 5th time TODAY... This thread is about pulling out into traffic from a stop (or a slow crawl) and experiencing a TOTAL power loss for a second or two. It has absolutely nothing to do with freeway merging at speed. Comprende, yo?

Disappointing. I keep waiting for it... that one time you'll have something either really witty or totally hysterical to say that just makes me laugh so hard i can't even be annoyed with you.... I gotta say.... optimism is waning at this point.

FWIW - My SO has a 16 Highlander XLE AWD and it does this all the time. When the wheel is turned in a single direction, it takes a second for it to get any power.

Yup -- when she gets home tonight I can try it with it on and it off.

It also has some sort of AWD selector -- not quite sure what that does along with a SNOW mode.

Cool, thanks. I am going to try and head to a parking lot tonight after the stores close and do some experimenting with modes in various combinations as well. Hopefully i can find somewhere not too crowded.
