I brought in my Tacoma (trd off-road 4x4) in for a couple of issues. Noise in the rear end(around 55-65ish), shaking driveline/breaks, and lastly, SQEAKING, SQUAKING, leafsprings. They told me that there IS an issue with my truck and held it over night. Insight? I am aware of the leafsprings and differential issues however does anyone have any literary ammunition that I can add to the problem?

I'll make sure to keep you guys updated.

    Thanks guys!

I don't think there's a summary out there to assist you with your issues. Just stay on the dealer to make these things right, tell them you want a TAS case opened if they tell you they can't fix it, also I'd call corporate and start a case file with them. Also don't mention the Forum at all or they'll quickly write you off.

Are dealers using this forum to sweep problems under the rug, or deny that a problem exists?

Actually just had mine in today for the howling differential. They confirmed it was an issue and will be replacing the differential.

I mentioned the shaking driveline/brakes too but they could not reproduce it. I don't blame them, I was in the vehicle in the passenger seat and couldn't feel it either. Seems to be either becoming more elusive or not constant....but i know it is still there and I swear I feel it still. I can see how it is easily mistaken for road vibrations though.

My leafsprings, thank jesus, are fine. That would drive me nuts.

I experienced that once under hard braking from about 100-120kph. Try that.

Replacing it will not fix the howl but it will help build your case for freebies from corporate. As you already know....

Well I already have a platinum care warranty from Toyota just for the problems from the start. I wonder what else can come from this...

Don't get too excited. My truck had to have its computer module replaced at 10k miles and corporate didn't want to give me an extended warranty or anything for that matter.

I had a variety of issues and have been to the dealer maybe 10 times since getting the truck 9 months ago. This helped my case for compensation

    UPDATE:

Just received a call from the dealership and they informed me that my differential is louder than any of the other ones that they have driven. They spoke with corporate and were recommended, by corporate, to replace my differential but gave me no assurance that this one will be better than the last. I love how the TRD Off-roads are getting completely beat up after not being all that much off road. I asked for when the next district/regional engineer will be in town to look at my truck and the service advisor told me sometime next month. I will be speaking to the service manager to coordinate a meeting with that person to have a run down of all the issues I have had so far with this truck and see what the repairs and everything are looking to be.

I keep wondering to myself if I should call corporate again and continue to complain about the newer issues. I mean I've only been to the dealership like 7 or 8 times and have called corporate about 9 times. Hmmm decisions, decisions...

All I can say is this is one of the saddest new releases of a Tacoma I have ever seen or read about. Feel so bad for all you ladies and gents going through this bullshit.

Agreed. For all the bullshit and comedy over the past months in the 3rd Gen forum, this does suck huge. Time spent just chasing down issues/resolutions is time better spent with family or wheeling..or both.

Don't cry for me, mines great @ 7000 miles. You do realize there's a small number of people who post about their issues like 50x each day right?

The TRD OR is not the only beleaguered trim. The SR5 and sport models have rear diff problems as well as reported and witnessed by myself and many others on this forum. My sisters SR5 is also making the noise.

Yes I am. Speaking from my experience the truck has been flawless. After TSB all concerns resolved. Listened for howl last night... Nothing.

Does seem like the howl issue is pretty widespread. I'll give you that. Sounds like Toyota will have a fix soon... Maybe they'll add a wolf bedside decal.

I think I bought mine late enough that the issues are being resolved before I really experience them.
