If they're going to break into my car for a dash cam, there's a lot more in there that I'd be more worried about than my dash cam.

Same here, but that's just one more thing to entice someone to look into your truck if they see a camera in it. Plus it's not a cheap camera, $400 and up.

that is true. mind you though my dash cam is small in my car which will work its way into the taco once I get it. It's mounted behind the rear view mirror almost blends in.

Where I am not many people break into cars for electronics though. Usually will just take any cash they find in your car and thats it. Usually its just a bunch of bums so they don't really want anything besides money, as they would have no way to move a stolen dashcam.

Back dash cam you'd never notice until its pointed out since my windows are so dark and its mounted to the headrest. besides break in and walk past the back not catching the other cam and you're on camera haha. Rear facing cam is always recording.

So sorry to hear about your accident man! Glad you just didn't blow up on the guy cause I remember when I was 16 some 40yr old man went irate on me when I backed into him at a shopping mall. I always told myself I would never behave that way after that experience especially if the person at fault is genuinely remorseful.

So sorry to hear about it. I've only got a forward facing dash cam, and it's already proved it's usefulness countless times. I've been poking at the idea of having a rear dash cam as well. Good luck with everything man.

Sorry to hear about your truck and glad no one was injured. It's clear to see that the (dumb ass) can't drive. Thank God for dashcams!!

It was a rear end accident the other guy was clearly at fault. Don't think dash cam did anything here. They are helpful in other cases but not really here.

Yeah, so far everybody I've spoken with (insurance, police, attorney) has said that while the dash cam video is nice to have, it probably won't be necessary.

It also sounds like it's near impossible to get any sort of diminished value payoff in Arizona, so I'm likely to get screwed up the ass just like my truck was. And the other driver will get off scott free.

I think if its fixed correctly, it would never hurt the value in the future. You could show potential buyers the repair and how its all good now.

Bummer! I'd be livid! Glad everyone is ok though.

Your videos sealed the deal on me ordering a dash cam - so thanks for that.

I worked at a Mercedes dealership and we had several customers trade their vehicles in as soon as the repairs were completed. Florida has a 2 year statute of limitations for diminished value and you have to prove that the vehicle is taking a loss because of the Carfax report. When trading in, you get bent over to begin with but if the dealer says they are offering such a low price because of accident history, then that acts as an official estimate of the loss of value. Some would also trade them in before the Carfax report could update and not lose a penny.
