Rough Country Light Bar - has anyone installed?

Wondering if anyone has installed one, and if so, how difficult was it, and where does the on/off switch mount? In the picture it looks as if it may be a foot switch, but I can't tell for sure.

 

VERY easy. I used a dremel and a coping saw to cut my lower grille and it took maybe 10 minutes. The bolts that you have to take off to use their mounting hardware are easy break loose and put back. The wire harness is easy and looks very water tight, there is a nice bolt over your engine fuse box I used to mount my relay next to the battery box. I finally got to turn it on last night after installing weeks ago because I am never out and about after dark and I was AMAZED with how much it lit EVERYTHING up.

 

CaliRaised has a similar setup that sits behind the front slats for those interested in a non-cutting installation.

And is it in fact a footswitch?

 

Cutting was my biggest concern over the rough country but the non-cutting style I was concerned about losing some light for being mounted a little farther back and the grille and bumper blocking some light.

 

Does this include the light bar? Sounds like it is just the brackets.

 

I bought a switch of ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/CH4x4-Toyot...ash=item2ef351013e:g:G4gAAOSwGYVW~Cmc&vxp=mtr and hard wired it. I used a coat hanger to fish the wiring through the main opening on the lower drivers side. The switch fit perfect in the slot with the blank next the AC power switch.

 

...but you could make the switch a footswitch if you like, I never even thought about it really.

Thing is I've already seen a few of these gotten stolen off of people's trucks on facebook......

That's why I went with the Cali-Raised option behind the grille, looks so much more stealthy! Plus someone just can't unbolt it and run with it!

 

That's a great looking switch. I much prefer the full blank switches to the ones cut in.

People have had them stolen!

 

I can see that being very probable, they may tear up the wire harness but it's only two bolts holding the bar to the brackets.

 

Unbolt it, pull it out and cut the wire and all they have to do is put to ends on the wires to use the light bar again.......

 

I have already been brainstorming now on how to secure it.

 

I've seen some special bolts that mount it that have like a special head on the bolt to remove it.

 

Poor-man's solution for hex socket cap screws (if big enough) is to silicone a BB into the socket. You can also get plastic socket screw covers/caps from motorcycle accessory providers; silicone those in place. Not 100% secure but makes someone else's stuff easier to steal than yours, which is the basic point.

The various security head bolts are probably the cleaner option.

 

My ridged bar I have had for about 8 months and about 4wks ago stated seeing moisture inside . Had it on for awhile and some goes away but comes back I just thought get what you pay for.
