So THAT"S what you do for a living!!! An average worker (7.5 hours a day, 240 days a year) cleaning about 28 filters an hour would clean a million filters in 20 years :D

The problem with this is that you don't really know what damage you're doing because there's no way to test it. Compressed air through cotton doesn't even SOUND like a good idea to me.

Follow the manufacturers directions and you won't have a problem.

On OEM dry filters I've always just tapped out the worst on the garage floor and used a shop vacuum from the incoming fresh air side at least once before replacement. To much pressure always made me wary and K&N and the AFE that I have now have advice against it.

MM if it's a high performance, dry or oiled, there ought to be a manufacture stamp or at least a stamped part #. Visit a few of the sights of AFE and others and try to match the #. Directions for recommended cleaning ought to be close by. ;)

I havent used compressed air on a cotton gause type filter. I dont even use them, as they filter horribly. If you have a cotton gause type filter, I agree that compressed air isnt good for it. :)

Assuming it's like the drop in. Either tap it, vacuum, or soap and water depending on how clean you want it.

    getting there....
which motor do you have?? 2.7 or the 4.0?? if its the 4banger.....people have said you can feel a good difference in throttle response, as well as better mileage. when i had my 06 with the 4.0........mileage may have been a bit better when i took it out, but the biggest difference i could tell was the truck idled better without the sec. filter. very easy to remove......snap the rivets out and the filter will come out. no bad side effects......all it is is a carbon filter anyway.

^Check out that thread and shoot Oscar (Flowsource) an email. He's hooked up other members after the group buy.

The secondary filter can be seen after unclipping the part of the intake where the fair filter resides. Immediately after the air filter is the secondary filter which is a charcoal type filter. It's held in by melted plastic rivets.
