I just did not like all the LED strips and ribbons and other BS aftermarket lighting accessories for my bed. I found this product and decided to take the plunge:

    http://toyotaofmcdonoughparts.net/products/00016-34089-toyota-tundra-led-bed-lights#

Let me walk you guys through it. The kit is a dealer item and includes everything you need, including zip ties and wire connectors.

    1) print and lay template
    2) drill (this is what scared me the most) holes in bed. Tape the template down well or it will walk off on you and your holes will be off center. (dont ask.....) MAKE SURE YOU USE CORRECT DRILL BIT. Its an odd size, if you dont own a 7/64's, go a size down. (again....dont just eyeball the bit....(again, dont ask, I dont wanna talk about it)
    3) Run conduit up frame and zip tie. This took the longest time due to the excessive length of the wires. (Its a universal kit for Tacomas and tundras)
    4) Tap into blue and pink wires with supplied T taps. (the kit has everything) (this step sucks as its a very small space. I suggest taking off the lower plastic as well)
The website actually published the dealer install instructions, so you can print them. They are great and go step by step with pictures.
    5) enjoy your awesome new bedlights. They come on when you open the doors, unlock the doors via remote or turn on the dome light.

Overall, I can say enough about this product. lights.jpg

I love mine. I added a pushbutton switch in the bed to be able to turn them on at will from the back.

Looks like a nice alternative to the LED strips. Does the finish on the housing match the bed?

Yes, it looks like it came from the factory with them installed. Fit and finish is perfect.

It'll work on any truck, technically.

Will work on any Tacoma, probably designed for the 2nd/3rd gen beds.

G4 Elite cover, weathertech, bed rail mounts,
I installed this kit as well - looks factory, is well made and throws good light into the bed.
    Additional tips / observations
    a) Hook-up connections and test BEFORE install - easier to trace any bad connections (don't be like me searching under the truck for the bad link)
    b) I used a coat hanger to fish wires around the gas tank (which is the hardest part)
    c) Like OP suggested, take off lower dash panel (just a few extra bolts) - working within the tiny the coin tray space is annoying and hard to seat the T-Taps properly
    d) I also wrapped all connections with electrical tape, and extra silicone around the floor grommet
    d) The way this is wired, the positive line is always on - negative line is tied to the variable ground for the dome light - you can add a switch to a fixed ground in the bed if you want to leave it on.

Just got the lights in. WOW that was fast shipping. And a nice personal touch. If anyone is considering buying these lights, Toyota of McDonough is the place to do it.

Installed these over the weekend. Didn't work, wasn't sure why. Figured it out today. You have to put together the male plug ends, and I pinned them wrong... 50/50 chance and I mixed em up... I blame it on USB cords.

Glad I found this post. Now that I have the instructions that show where to tap into the dome light I am starting to install my puddle lights. I bought four sets of LED strips a few months ago and today I got the drivers side done. These are supposedly DRL's, but I'm only using them as puddle lights. Hopefully this weekend I can get the passenger side tied into this.

One thing to note: I installed the Toyota VIP alarm about a year ago. When I looked at the black plug in the fuse panel the colors of the wires didn't match the instructions. Took me a second to realize that the original black plug was connected to another harness which then connected into that spot because of the alarm. I found the original plug and tapped right into the blue and pink wires.

Perimeter strips look cool in an empty bed.

Fill them with gear and they're useless.
