I have been getting a brake clunk almost everytime when switching to drive or reverse and then hitting the brake. It only usually happens the first time going in that direction. Last night I replaced the caliper pins and added another spring to the top of the caliper like others have done. It doesn't seem to have helped any for me though. The pads are only a year old too. Any other ideas to fix this issue or could it be something else related the the brakes?

Its just brake pad play inside the calipers. Simply ignore it

I did have some of that, but didn't apply any to the pads. I don't remember this noise until more recently. I think probably because the pads were brand new last year, so it never did it then.

Pull the slide pins and grease them with the correct grease.

A touch of brake grease on the back side of the pad should stop the slap - I've just been ignoring mine for years.
