Recently purchased this 2012 AC 2.7 automatic from a private seller that took really great care of it. The 2012 replaces the 2002 below which is a 2.7 5 speed. I love my 2.7s!!DSCN0485.jpg

Thanks Greenbean! Ive had it for about 6 months now and am loving it so far. I no longer have to worry about deer running out in front of me and tearing up the taco.

    10-4, Beefy for sure. :benchpress:

I like the way the ARB mounts up on the pre-2012 model years.

I agree with you here, my dad has one on his 14, and it doesnt fit as good as mine. He had to cut the top off his old bumper and use it as a trim piece to make it look better, where as on mine, i just threw my old bumper away.

Yeah, unfortunately. Next year i plan on long traveling the front though. Unsure of what i want to do with the rear yet since i dont plan on doing any big whoops. However i do travel on about 2-3 miles of washboard road everyday so id like to be able to run through things a little quicker

Haha the ride is less than pleasant. But i do have 205k on the original shocks, so i attribute it to this. Im pretty sure when i added the ARB it only sagged about 1/4-1/2 inch.

Edited to add: I also have load range E michelins on my truck so this doesnt help the ride either

Why do you want long travel? Doesn't really seem well suited for your purposes. I happened to read this post recently:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/considering-long-travel-read-here-first.180457/

One of the things that stood out to me was that LT doesn't typically handle washboard well (according to the OP) with the shocks being valved to handle whoops and jumps. He may be speaking in generalities though, and I guess you could have the shocks custom valved to be better suited to washboard, but again, why would you put up with all the drawbacks of LT if you're not going to take advantage of it's strong suits?

Truck looks great! How's that 4cyl handle those 255s? Do you live in the mountains or haul much? Do you feel the need to regear?

thanks! i've only had since saturday and i live in the foothills of the blue ridge so alot of driving up and down hills. i haven't gotten into the mtns yet but will here shortly. so far it's handling the tires like a champ they're skinny so perhaps a smaller contact patch helps or the automatic is compensating some. i get in traffic and no problem keeping up. i dont feel any need to regear . they clear everything great no need for a cmc, beating a pinch weld, or any of that. they're quiet and ride great

Ive read through that post a couple of times, its a good write up for sure.
A few reasons i want LT.. Well after cruising these forums im dead set on building my truck once i have another daily driver, but its hard for me to justify putting a mid travel setup on my truck since its 2wd. I also know that if i go mid travel ill end up regretting it later on down the road because ill end up wanting more so im going to try to buy once and cry once, even though LT is stupid expensive. While you have a valid point that its not really suited for my needs, its honestly just more of a want, and i blame TW and my lead foot for that. Plus im going to get dcsb taco or a 4runner for my next dd and thatll have a mid travel setup on it so i figured why not have a LT and a MT and get the best of both worlds.
One reason i dont plan on taking full advantage of the Lt immediately is because i have an ARB that i dig and would rather not go without, but i am sure ill get hooked on it and start bashing on my truck eventually.

Heres a cool thread i read recently about someone who actually needs LT lol.. Has me considering keeping the ARB for sure now..
