    Some stick on chrome from pep boys
    When I was getting ready to buy my Tacoma the lot lizard who was showing me around the truck lifted the rear seat base and said the same thing about that under seat compartment. That is when I asked to speak to an adult and watched him go have a sulk when the salesman that we've bought a half dozen cars from came out to greet us.

    That's a tough one. Certain 16's won't clear the calipers (at least with steelies). I personally wouldn't buy them without confirming fitment first.

    I actually fixed it.

    Bent the arms on the latches and now they actually latch. Drove 200 miles with the tailgate down (four wheeler in the bed) and didn't lose a thing!
