Overland Expo East Oct 7-9 Asheville NC

I'm planning on being there. Not sure if whole weekend or just a day

 

In and paid to camp.

 

So $180 for a weekend Camping pass + $46 each for the Biltmore access (which is required). And add to that over 10 hours one way driving...
Sorry, I'm out.

 

Yea 278.44 for a family pass(2 adults, kids under 12 free) + camping + Biltmore access. It's a little steep, and with your drive I don't blame you..

 

I'm in with camping despite the 10 hour drive.

So I was 100% in for this event, even have a buddy that is/was going with me. But with hurricane Matthew looming down the on the East coast it looks like this is going to be a rain-soaked weekend and I cannot see traveling 1000+ miles just to have the event be washed out. Is anyone else worried about this?

 

Does anyone know if campfires are allowed?

I believe only propane "Campfire in a can" style fires are allowed at your campsite. They will probably have afew community fire pits scattered throughout the venue. I would check the overland expo website for the faq

 

I checked and didn't see anything about fires..

RULES FOR THE MAIN CAMPGROUND:

• Pets are welcome, but please clean up after them; make sure to read the Pet Rules above.
• There will be 24-hour security.
• NO open (wood or charcoal) fires. Cookstoves (propane, white gas, etc) and gas-powered campfire units okay. (Regulations as of April 2013.)
• There is NO electricity. Please turn off your generators after sunset.
• Camping opens Thursday at 1:00 PM. You may stay over Sunday night.

 

I'll be there with the Habitat.

 

Good luck to all that are going. I have removed myself from the event along with so many others and vendors also. NC has declared a state of emergency with everyone leaving the coastlines. Reports have been made that stores are sold out of food, gas stations have mile long lines, and there is not an empty hotel room anywhere. I was really looking forward to this but with the hurricane looming down on the East coast this will very well make a great event a minimum one. Hope to see everyone at Overland Expo West next year! Be safe and careful out there.

 

I will still be attending. Ashville will probably be one of the best places in the Carolina's to be during this storm. Hell last year it was supposed to be flooding all over and I said screw it better than being stuck at home. Turned out it was sun shine at the expo and flooding everywhere else.

I purchased my day pass last night to go today,

Wife is headed to Charlotte anyways with my sister so if they get a "Girls Day" I'm going to check out all the vendors and take lots of pics of the vehicles and stuff. I live to close not to go, lol...

My drive is about 20 min.

I have some friends who work on the Police force there and am curious how they laid out the vendor section and such. I hope it proves to be a better venue that what happened last year and keeps Expo East in Asheville.

I am hoping to make it to a West Expo soon... True road trip there.

If anyone is there, have fun and enjoy. Local forecasters are only calling for drizzle and light rain if any today and Sat and Sun should be beautiful.
