I found that using a headlamp was a pain when trying to get ready for bed on my sleeping platform. Additionally, my dome light is wired into the ignition, so it doesn't work when the truck isn't on. Issue: I wanted way more/easier light.

I found these LED USB powered lanterns on Amazon for around $14 each: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01I5RT2IA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Using some picture hangers like this, I unscrewed a few of the small window screws and slid these behind them allowing me to use a keyring to attach the light. I also attached two of these to the front window frame to allow me to run the wires more cleanly across to the other side.

The best part is, these have a remote control and can run for a few hours on even the smaller USB battery packs plus can be daily chained together. Get a larger usb battery, keep it charged in the cab (or even via the truck bed outlet) and you've got yourself a worry and wiring free lighting solution for your topper. I plan on getting one of the larger batteries with built in solar panel and just keeping it on the dash or passenger seat for constant passive charging.

This is primarily a proof of concept for now, and I'm sure I can dial in placement/lights swaying/line of sight while driving, etc.

I hadn't really seen this mentioned or executed before (but also didn't look that hard), but hope this helps!
