If the rise / run is different , all the angles on the various components will be different than what you need for your railing

For $150 I would say go for it. Even if it takes a lot of work to take it all apart and adjust for different angles (that's where most of the fun is anyways) it will still be worth it.

I don't think its necessarily a bad idea but depends on what you can salvage and re-use which will be determined by how it was put together , just pointing out what you're up against

That is what has me concerned, how much i'll actually be able to salvage while trying to take it apart. its a 2 hour drive there, 2 hour drive back, who knows how long if everything goes smoothly...the more i think about it the more i'm not sure if i'll try this lol

I wouldn't take a 4 hour round trip, plus a few hours of work in some guys house, for a maybe it will work scenario.

Just closed on my first house two days ago, it's a foreclosure. First order of business is a new septic system and replacing the hvac. Here we go.

Congrats! Is any of that work going to be "sweat equity"?

We had our house appraised about a month ago for a refi, value went completely in the shitter! When asked about the value they told me it was because of the foreclosures nearby. WTF the two that I knew about are still worth three times what ours is now worth! 1 was empty less than a month, the other wasn't empty at all! Be careful y'all "friends don't let friends live near foreclosures!" Damn those Lehmans!

The majority of the work is going to be sweat equity besides those two major systems. Our house appraised for 20k more than why we paid for it. There's a house down the rd that was recently updated and renovated that was very similar in sq footage, rancher, and also had an acre that sold for $115k more than what I bought this for.

Id have to literally burn money in the fireplace to come close to spending that on the renovation, so when it's all said in down I should have a decent chunk of equity built up.

I've got something similar made by Ridgid (Home Despot). Works great for camping and hunting gear. A bit cheaper and has a pretty sturdy built in rolling cart built in. Fairly sturdy stuff.

I was able to compare the DeWalt Tough Systems and Ridgid components side by side. DeWalt is a tad tougher with some nicer features, but was about 20% more and the 'dolly' was $189 extra.

Whipped up some quick jigs to lay out cabinet and drawer pulls. Used some scrap. A lot easier than using the plastic piece they sell at Depot and Lowes, plus I can place the pulls exactly where I want.

    Excellent results

I had 2 instances where I could have used a rolling tool set up this summer, both remote Boy Scout projects. I used to lash a lot of crap to my hand truck, but this (hopefully) will make it easier.

Looks like I'll be starting a house build in November , I just wanted some boxes to provide dry storage for tools and fasteners especially prior to getting a roof on and my local guy had these boxes and he's not planning to carry them anymore so I got them at a decent discount . I don't really think I'll need to transport 3 boxes at once too often so the cart is probably something I wouldn't use but I can also add it later if I find that I might want it
