need someone to point me in the right direction, looking to just do a basic speaker swap, on the stock HU. trying to spend less then $100, for 4 speakers, thought i might get a pioneer double din bluetooth one down the road

i was looking at the pioneer 1676 3 ways .

looking for a decent bass and treble, i don't really want to add a sub.

    any help?

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
I'll preface this by saying I'm new to the audio game.

From what I've seen the head unit is only putting out 10-ish RMS so you're going to have a hell of a hard time finding speakers that will reach their potential with that, and even then the speakers aren't going to be much. I put a Kenwood M3004 ($100 on Amazon) in mine for the speakers and it made them a hell of a lot cleaner. With the stock head unit they were better than the OEM speakers but still pretty muddy and most of the the bass was gone. The stock speakers hit harder bass wise until I added the amp.

Look for a high efficiency speaker for now. When you upgrade your HU either make sure it has enough RMS for the speakers or consider an amp if you want to clean them up. My Pioneer AVH-2600BHS didn't even quite cut it with the Rockford Fosgates I have installed.

http://www.crutchfield.com/g_52000/...p to 50&nvpair=FFSensitivity|[rank4]Over 91dB These would do well, they're all 2-40/50RMS with around 90dB efficiency. The 1676's should do well for your application too.

If you are going to upgrade your head unit i would do that first. I say this because the new HU will push more power to the speakers.

For the speakers you will need to look at a few things... sensitivity, RMS, and Responce

I've read a few articles that did sound quality comparisons between upgrading speakers vs HU and 99% of the time, upgrading the HU first produces better sound quality over upgrading speakers alone. If you're only going to replace one or the other, HU is the way to go over speakers.

while i agree with you both, cash is tight and the front drivers side speaker sounds like garbage on my 100 mile trip home from work...

ordered the pioneer 1676s (3way) $40 shipped via Amazon...
