The dent is a crease, and is on a curved panel. It's also effecting 2 separate curved body lines, one being the body line running the width of the door, and the other being the body line running from the fender to the front edge of the door.

Curved and bent steel is extremely strong, it isn't something Joe Vehicle Owner can pound out with a hammer, particularly when you have multiple angles of bends and curves meeting each other in a different curve altofether. It will require paint work, body work, sheet metal work. That's why it's more cost effective and time efficient to replace the door than repair.

I have not done major body work before, just looks easier than I thought I guess. Doesn't seem like he's got much to lose in trying if he replaces it. Ill keep my mouth shut :p

You might consider checking with your local paintless dent repair guys. It won't be cheap but it will be less than the cost of replacing the door and blending the paint. Get a quote - worst thing that happens is you tell the guy 'no' and go the paint route instead.

    YES IT CAN BE FIXED!

As soon as I bought mine, brand new! I went to a shop and ordered Manik side bars, Westin Bull Bar, Undercover bed cover, etc... was going to take about a week for it all to come in... Right at 71 hours after i saw mine unloaded off the truck with 4 miles on it, same exact thing happened to me in a parking lot! (before I had side bars) :(

It won't be cheap :( Probably about $800-$1,000 man!

But there is one good side to this... as soon as you put some protection on the sides, the next guy that hits you... his car will be ruined and you will only have to spend about 15 minutes next Saturday wiping his paint of your side bar while laughing at him! :)

(that actually has happened to me twice since I installed the Manic's LOL!)

you could save some money by buying a new door, have a good shop paint it to match (the raw door, meaning inside and out metal, before you put the interior panel, etc on) then reinstall your speakers, inside panel, wiring, etc yourself and just use touchup paint to touch up the fender and fender flare. and just live with the little dent in the fender...

    probably get away with $500

That would be a good suggestion if it wasn't for the crease. Unfortunately that's beyond what pdr is capable of fixing.

Yes and one correction to my earlier post - worst that can happen is the PDR guy says 'no, it can't be fixed without paint'.

I modified my tailgate with a large dent right at the top and three PDR guys said they couldn't do it. A fellow TW'er had a similar problem and found a PDR guy willing to give it a shot. End result wasn't perfect but it looked pretty good and if I remember correctly it cost him a tenth of what it cost for my tailgate skin to be replaced and repainted. It's worth asking, even with a likely 'no' answer.

If I just get a new door do you think that the color would be off any? Or do you think it would be hard to tell if it was off.

Depends on the aging of your paint.

But you can order a door in primer and have a body shop paint match, or get a painted door and see how it looks.

I think I'd go for a repair or a replacement door. I had a skin put on my '06 and I was never happy with it. Something about the fit just wasn't 100%, and it was done at the dealer.
